Our group of three recently stopped at the Woodville Cafe for lunch. The server was super friendly and efficient, the food was delicious and the atmosphere is small-town quaint. We don't live in Wisconsin, but we look forward to eating at this establishment whenever we are in the area.
Schuggy's American Grill & Taphouse features American comfort food. Our menu is filled with hearty home-cooking style items including our open faced pot roast sandwich, 9 varieties of mac 'n cheese, pastas, steaks, burgers, sandwiches and homemade pizza.
We decided to try this place for supper as we have not yet been before. Nice building, welcoming atmosphere and good layout (bar separated from dining area - helps with noise). The menu is impressive offering a wide range of pizza, sandwiches, entrees, pasta, etc. Nice beer selection as well. Prices reasonable. Service friendly. We ordered the Wachos (waffle fry nachos) as an appetizer. This took quite awhile to come out and ended up coming pretty much the same time as our meal. They were good, but I would have preferred some additional cheese (fresh - not canned nacho cheese). Portion size large - could be ordered as a meal. I tried the Piggy Mac-n-Cheese - basically bbq pork mac-n-cheese. I ordered the bbq on the size which was a good call as I could put it on to my liking (waiter's suggestion). I ordered the coleslaw and baked beans as sides. The mac-n-cheese was good and a large portion. However, the beans and coleslaw didn't have much flavor to me. With a few tweaks (perhaps additional spices) the meal would have been great. We also ordered the Bleu Buffalo Bacon Bison burger and onion rings. Unfortunately the burger was terribly dry (over cooked) and not much flavor. The onion rings were also over cooked (darker brown) and had very little onion - mostly all breading. Poor flavor. With some tweaks and changes, this place could be really great. I would be willing to go back and try some other menu items.Hi there,Thank you for the feedback, I did want to clarify a point you referenced. We do not use canned nacho cheese sauce. The sauce is 100% homemade from scratch and the same cheese sauce we use in our 8 varieties of mac 'n cheese.Thank you for the info on the beans and slaw. It's possible that these were not prepared properly. As long as they are prepared exactly to our recipe, they are outstanding. We will do some additional quality control on this going forward. How was your bison ordered? It is a very finicky meat to cook and honestly, I would not recommend ordering it anything beyond medium, but would recommend medium rare if asked by a guest. It is a much leaner meat than beef, so it can become dried out at even medium / medium well.We look forward to having you back. I'd appreciate it if you are able to reach out to me directly and let me know when you were in so these issues could be addressed directly with my staff. Thanks,Trent Schug, [email protected]
We've lived in Hammond for several years and haven't been to Ras' in just as many. On a cool, rainy caulifsummer night, we decided to try it out.It was just the two of us for dinner, so we sat in the bar area, in front of the tvs so we could watch sports. We ordered the 'pick 3' appetizers, deep fried mushrooms, deep fried cauliflower and onion rings. Dear hubby ordered a bacon cheese burger and I ordered the turkey sandwich. The cauliflower and mushrooms were really big! Not only that but were crunchy- not mushy! Onion rings were really good too. DH said his burger was (dare he say) the best he has had in a really long time. I was expecting to get a deli style turkey sandwich but it was a thick slab of turkey on a tasty rye bread. After all that food and a couple of beers each, our bill was around $30. Our server was great. He was a young guy who also tended to the bar. Chipper with excellent customer service skills. I wished I had his name!I expect to go back again really soon and have been craving deep fried cauliflower since the day we left!

I stopped here for breakfast. One problem that this restaurant has is access; it looks very accessible, but if you have one of the MANY semis going to the gas station across the road blocking the IN driveway, you have a problem. That happened to me. Apparently there was a traffic backup at the gas station and a semi just sat in the road blocking both directions of traffic. I wanted to go to Hardees so I went into the parking lot through the first driveway and around the back carefully so I could get into the drive through. It also did NOT help that there were campers and RVs parked in the driveway next to the drive through. There were plenty of parking spots available in the two lots but they decided to park in the driveway.... Maybe some NO PARKING signs would be helpful for the thoughtless.Anyway, I started placing my order at the drive through. Although the employee working that position was friendly, she kept cutting me off and asking if that was all. Maybe her headset isnât very good? Anyway, I ordered the biscuit and gravy combo, coffee with two creamers, and a cinnamon raisin biscuit. I hadnât had these items for years mainly because there arenât any Hardees near where I live and normally go. I wanted to see what they were like now.I got my food right away and discovered they had put the creamers in my coffee. That was very thoughtful! I was able to have my coffee right away because of that. I drove up to Windmill Park to have my breakfast.I had some of the potato rounds that come with the order. They were crunchy, not greasy at all, but a little bit salty. It wasnât added salt, I think it is in the product itself. I also had my biscuit and gravy. You get one biscuit which was hot, and a container of gravy, which was really hot. The biscuit was a little greasy but not unexpected, and the gravy was pretty thin. I guess less thickener equals less calories but it could be described as runny. It had a light sausage flavor and some specks of sausage. At least it was a savory gravy like what is served in the Deep South. The coffee was ok but had a strange flavor to it. The cinnamon raisin biscuit was quite good! The breakfast was good but I would probably try something different next time.

But this was my first fried cheese curd experience and I was blown away. I LOVE THEM. And their rootbeer was SUPER sweet. And the onion rings were pretty damn good as well.

My husband and I have stopped here twice while traveling thru and it worth the little jaunt off the interstate. Ample street parking for our truck and trailer and outdoor seating is available. Fast, friendly service and good coffee make this a great place to stop for breakfast.I had two fluffy, tasty pancakes that were 8 inches in diameter(yes I measured), so was unable to finish them. Eggs were properly cooked and the bacon is meaty and crispy. My husband had so many hash browns left, we had breakfast for 2 the next day(crispy and not greasy). Busy place, but prompt service and yes there always seems to be a dice game. Am disappointed as I am always too full to try the marvelous looking fresh peach pie($3). Oh, very reasonable prices, less than $9 for the more substantial plates. Stop in!

Ate here with my wife last night.Started with the Bang Bang wings which were quite good. Would do again for sure. She had the Margarita Pizza which was not a hit with either of us. Tomato sauce was almost sweet and not very appealing. Well cooked but just really not our style of sauce.I had the Bacon Cheese Burger which was cooked perfectly but just nothing special. Again, not bad. Just nothing to return for based on our meals.Lastly, we were on the deck and they had a local duo band doing music who were not very good. Would have preferred to have picked a night without anyone performing or else had been seated inside.Thank you for checking us out, we appreciate the feedback. We hope you will dine with us again in the future, and have a 5 star experience. Our servers are always happy to recommend dishes from the menu! I appreciate the feedback on the band as well, they were a new act this year. If you are unhappy with where you are sitting, we are happy to move you as well - just ask :)
