My spouse and I enjoyed a late lunch of Clam Chowder, Steamers with Garlic Bread and hot Crawdaddy Dip and Tortilla Chips. The chowder was very tasty and substantial with lots of clams, potatoes, celery etc. The crawdaddy dip was to die for; just the right amount of zip to it. The steamers were delicious - lots of garlic! I enjoyed an American Imperial Ale by Prairie Artisan Ales and my spouse a Double Bock by the in house brewery. Both were very, very good. Our waitress, Lindsey, was excellent - attentive, cheerful, and a great customer service asset.

I ate here before hiking (everything tastes good after a long hike!) as well as after the summit. You’ll see pre-post mount Saint hell hikers here...great to get current trail conditions.Big and juicy burger cooked medium with lotsa pink.Good onion rings and fries.Somewhat expensive for a $13 burger but way good.Nice staff. Enter and seat your self.Understand only open for breakfast on the weekends.Way tasty and well worth a stop if you’re not staying here.Thank you for the review! On our off-season (after Labor Day and before Memorial Day) we don't offer breakfast during the week. However, near closing time one of our cooks would be happy to make you a breakfast sandwich to go for your climb. We hope to see you another time if you are willing to climb Mount Saint 'Hell' again!

Very comfortable and homey. Love the coffee here - Stumptown! Wide selection of pastries reasonably priced. Also, good choice of breakfast and lunch items. Friendly staff. The setting is great - an old church. There is sitting inside and out. The only con I have with this place is the poor ventilation system so if I sit inside I can smell cooking odors for the rest of the day.

I've been dining at the Hockinson Cafe for over 5 years. They sometimes get very busy during breakfast, and you may have to wait 15 or 20 minutes, but the reason they're busy is because the food is so very good here. Give them a try you won't be sorry.

We stopped here at the recommendation of a local person about their great burgers. Four of us had burgers, they were very average. The “seasoned fries” were bland and soggy. None of us were impressed without meals. They weren’t bad, they were just blah. The prices were way over the top for what we had: 4 burgers, a beer, a glass of wine, 2 sodas and two appetizers cost $95!Servers were friendly and prompt. 3 stars for average food, -1 for the prices. We won’t be back. So sorry you visit was not up to par. Our burgers are made with American Waygu for the great flavor. Our fries should have been crisp. I am also sorry you did not like the value of our products. We hope you will give us another chance. If at any time you are not satisfied with your experience, please ask for a manager and watch how fast we fix it.

How nice that it worked out we arrived to find an all day happy hour. Sunday is your day!Started at 4 pm. Good selection of items. Tried a green salad, nice serving and good. The french dip was tasty too-came with swiss cheese and steak fries. Yum.The wings were great. Got a side of Franks and also BBQ sauce, and ranch and blue cheese for dipping. Got more of them than I would have expected. Try them, them!Drinks are healthy--beer is cold, what more could you want.Server was really nice, service was fast, prices good. Fun drive to the country to get here.

A group of us decided to try this place on one of our bi-weekly outings. From first glance it seemed a little fancy for the area, but the menu was very down to earth. I tried the fondue appetizer and the french dip. Quite tasty. The others in our group also enjoyed their meals. It was a surprising little gem, and if I was passing by, I may stop for another meal, but I don;t think I will make the special trip. Thank you.

We hang around this area during the summer. In years past we had visited this restaurant many times. I know the cooks and servers have changed over the years but not sure if the owner has. One thing for sure is the interior definitely needs a fix-up. The walls appeared freshly painted on this visit but the booth seats are still worn and torn. We felt the carpet was worn and dirty. There are two parts to this restaurant -- the bar and the restaurant. The server seemed to serve both sides. No one else was sitting in the restaurant but us. It took quite a while for the server to stop at our table. Then, it took another long while for her to return with our drinks. In the meantime, our silverware was dirty and trash from a previous patron was under the table. My husband ordered a grilled cheese sandwich and the lentil soup. He felt the grilled cheese would be safe. He didn't eat the soup. I ordered the french dip. The bread was fresh but the meat had a dark edge on the outside, no taste and tough for thin sliced beef. The french fries were very good.We won't be back this year but will probably try it again in 2017 just to see if it improves.I gave it a 2-star but in my opinion it probably is over rated at that.

This is actually a general store and a diner. It's off the beaten path unless you're taking highway 503 through the little town of Amboy towards Cougar, WA and towards Mount St. Helen's. It's a place that mainly serves locals including hunters and campers. The little restaurant is snuggled in the back of the General Store. The actual name of the "diner" is either Grandma's Kitchen (as on the sign) or Gramma's as on the menu. We weren't quite sure. Not only the name was a little confusing but so was the service for first timers. At first we weren't sure whether to order from the counter but then discovered menus on all the tables and a waitress. We sat down, figured out our order and was ready by the time the waitress stopped at our table. It was breakfast time and coffee is always number one on my list of items to order in the morning. I never got the coffee. We only realized after we were finished that drinks are normally self-served ... but my husband was served hot chocolate. Waitress indicated she was new -- had only been there a week -- but didn't seem to know much about items on the menu or how they are cooked. Then, there's the food. This should be rated by itself. The plates were so full that we could have split the breakfast and still walked out very full. We had no complaints on the food related to the cook ... only to the waitress. The food was very good and very nicely priced. My rating of 4 stars is 5 for the food and 3 for the waitress (probably should be a 2 for the waitress). Because the food was good, we will definitely try this place again when we return next summer.
