Things to do in Kinshasa
I visited Marina Restaurant during my last trip in Congo. The magnificent view of the Congo River brings peace of the mind while enjoying a nice beef fillet braised kebab and all sorts of green vegetables. Visit Marina and you will find any type of world food and delicacies of the Congo under one roof.
This place is on a small man-made lake near the Congo River. It's about 30 minutes past N'djili Airport. You'll see signs for it on the left. We went on a Sunday for the all you can eat brunch ($25 for adults, $10 for children 12 & under). It was a generous buffet with potato salad, tomato salad, pondu, tekuteku, beignet, makemba, pasta, poulet a la mwambe (with palm nuts, not peanut butter), grilled chicken and sausage, and I think they even had fish. The fun part was enjoying the "pool" (small lake) which was shallow enough for children to stand up in. They had inner tubes on hand, and kids and adults had a great time in the water. The bathrooms had no running water or toilet paper however, so be sure to take tissues. The "change rooms" were full of holes, so most people changed in the bathroom. Take plenty of sunscreen. Outside food and drink aren't allowed.

I read an article about Re-source a few months ago but couldn't seem to find the place. It's off the beaten path, actually very close to the Casino, and worth the search. Chef Christian Yumbi's dishes are exquisite -- see pics of the menu. The ingredients are fresh, sourced locally, with organic vegetables. Yes it's on the pricey end, but well worth a visit. My only comment was... very, very poor service. Others who had been before mentioned the same thing. The restaurant now has a small guest house with I think 3 rooms, and even guests in the guest house found very poor (slow) service. So visit Re-source when you're not in a hurry.

Best Italian food near Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of the Congo
The oldest and best congolese restaurant in Kinshasa. The best place to discover and enjoy the congolese food. The restaurant has been fully renovated in 2014
If you are looking for a place where you could eat African food in a very African setting, Inzia is for you. The buffet is amazing. There are several types of fish, several types of meat, many vegetables, French fries, fufu, chikwange, makemba and the like. It's expensive (30 USD per person), but you can eat as much as you want. Don't go there if you aren't hungry! As far as I am concerned, I was pleased with the food, even though I am not a fan of African food, but I was annoyed at the music. It was a Friday night. There was a live band, playing some Congolese classics. The music was too loud. We asked to be seated at the back of the restaurant, but even then it was still too loud! Well, if you want a more peaceful time with friends or colleagues, I don't advise you go on a Friday or on a Saturday night. If do enjoy loud music and an African style atmosphere and setting, you won't be disappointed.

Upscale restaurant in European and Congolese gastronomy. Several specialties to be discovered on site, on demand or by reservation. Frame distracted, quiet, accessible to town. Free valet parking, Free parking monitored by a security guard.
I had called villa tricana around 11AM to preorder so that I could do lunch within an hour, given I had a meeting in an hour and a half. We were 4. When we arrived, our table was set, the food took no longer than 10 minutes to be served, and we could enjoy a good meal and attend our meeting on time. All around a very pleasant experience, unlike that which I had at Acasamia, because of Eric, the manager with no service mindset, who did not excuse himself after having changed my reservation table to another one even when I had made the reservation 2 weeks prior to the date, and even refusing to provide a seat to an additional invitee when there were 3 tables of 2 that were empty for the rest of the evening. I will never go back to Acasamia. Villa Tricana was excellent in terms of food and service and atmosphere. They know what service is about.Thank you a million for your opinion.Do not hesitate to come back!

There used to be two hotels/restaurants you could go to in Kinshasa: the Memling and the Intercon. The Memling is no longer in a good neighborhood, and the Intercon is under new and unskilled management. So the Hacienda (Belgian owned) is, at $150, an alternative; I got $100 for b and b, at an institutional discount. Restaurant serves pricey but generally good continental cuisine for lunch and dinnerThings to like: acceptable breakfasts, normal continental cuisine for lunch and dinner, clean and modern rooms. The connectivity is slow during the day, but speeds up at night. On cable, I got BBC; most other channels were in French.

Last night, I went to the Majestic River restaurant with my girlfriend. Yes, you read well, "last night", the 11th November 2018: the Majestic River is open once again! It's a wonderful news because the Majestic River is not only one of the best restaurants of Kinshasa, it's also on a boat and offers a breathtaking view of the Congo River and of Brazzaville, the nearby capital. The view was exhilarating, the food was excellent and the staff was great. What is more, it wasn't as expensive as I had imagined. On the contrary, we paid only $63 for two, with four drinks. With such a view, on a boat, how can you beat that?

Chez Philo is a perfect blend of Belgian and Congolese cuisines, or if you want to be less precise "a perfect blend of European and African cuisines". Restaurants in Kinshasa are either "European", they will mainly be good at European dishes, or "African", they will only serve African dishes. Chez Philo, you can eat the best Belgian dishes as well as the best Congolese dishes. Let's imagine you receive a friend for a week and want to invite him to a good restaurant. However, you don't feel like eating African food yourself. No problem! You can go Chez Philo, eat a Belgian speciality and let your guest eat a crocodile steak or an antelope steak. Isn't that fantastic? And there is more: your bill won't be jaw-dropping. Chez Philo doesn't overcharge, like it is often the case in Kinshasa, where you can pay a burger with frightening salad 30 or even 35 USD.

A Kinshasa institution beloved by locals and expats for excellent rotisserie chicken.
Chicken is delicious but I would suggest to also consider desserts as an essential part of the menu. When asked, the waiter said that despite this is a recurrent request from the customers, the cook seems reluctant in procuring the desserts for the restaurant (?). Lol.
