What to do and see in Zealand, Zealand: The Best Tours

September 5, 2021 Lashaunda Abraham

Denmark's largest island is so much more than simply the home of the country's dynamic capital, Copenhagen. Zealand also offers a delightful array of holiday homes and villas, pleasing harbors and sandy beaches, fringed by forests where castles lurk. Major destinations include the UNESCO-designated, Dutch Renaissance-style Kronborg Castle in Helsingor and the Viking attractions, cathedral and music festival of Roskilde. To the south bobs a flotilla of beautiful and relatively untouched islands.

Like a lot of other reviewers here, this class was the highlight of my short trip to Copenhagen! We had a very small group obviously owing to the current circumstances, but it was still fun. It was lovely to arrive to some coffee and granola for breakfast, it certainly felt like you were being invited to someone's very beautiful and well-equipped home kitchen. As someone who has some baking experience, I still got a lot out of the class in finally tackling puff pastry and picked up useful tips on how I could improve my own baking at home. It was also great to learn the particular traditions of Danish baking. Thomas was a very thorough and entertaining teacher and really delivered on recommendations on where to go for more great baking in the city!

Entrance fees are not included.

We were happy to have Nadia as a guide, who was absolutely nice and welcoming. A genuine professional that could quickly notice what triggered our interest along the tour and bring up more interesting details to meet our curiosity. It really just felt like walking around with a friend who is truly passionate about Danish culture herself and together enjoying the beautiful places we were seeing. This tour option turned out perfect for the corona time when everything is closed because, even though you cannot enter the castles or the library or anything, there is a person who can describe it to you in a comprehensive and captivating way. Definitely enjoyed this experience.

And we ate it all! Seraina was very knowledgeable about the area. Showed us a great variety of Danish foods and when we went to get our Danish hotdogs and everything closed she did everything she could to make sure we had our hotdog in whatever form we could find. Great conversation and lot of fun. Hope to see her again.

The legendary creatures of Danish folklore are more than just the Little Mermaid immortalised by H. C. Andersen. The Danish bestiary also includes such monsters as man-eating trolls, dragons who hoard treasures and fight against bulls, the heraldic wild men depicted on the royal coat of arms and the strange creature known as the ”Sea Bishop”. Even the centre of Copenhagen that draws the most tourists and traffic is haunted by mythical beasts who are seen in statues, reliefs and artwork on buildings. Yet many of these monsters remain unknown to most visitors. You can, however, now fill this gap in your folkloric knowledge with this self-guided GPS audio tour. Download the HidDenmark Monstour VoiceMap unto your Smartphone. It will guide you on a journey from the Tivoli amusement park over the Copenhagen Stock Exchange to the canals, while narrating how weird tales of strange and terrible beings have shaped the capitol of the country.

Inclusions: Lifetime access to this English audio tour, VoiceMap app for Andriod or iOS, Offline access to audio, maps, and geodata

Exclusions: Smartphone and headphones, Transportation, Food and drinks, Tickets or entrance fees to any museums or other attractions en route

We booked the 2h tour and luckily we were the only ones on this tour so we had our private guide. He knew a lot of details about the sights in Copenhagen and of course Segway is a lot of fun. We also never felt uncomfortable driving through the Copenhagen traffic since we mostly used smaller roads. Thanks a lot!
