Kathleen Lake

Kathleen Lake was one of the top highlights of our visit to the Yukon. We loved it so much we went back 3 times in 2 days. There is camping on-site, but we were just there for the view as this was a photo trip. Kathleen Lake did not disappoint.

Kluane Lake

Reviewed By J2636SNcynthiaw - Freeland, United States

The views along the lake are stunning, although it is sad that the glacier has stopped feeding water into it. This is a true life, easy to see change in our climate. You can see where the water line used to be,, about 10-15 feet higher. One end of the lake is drying up and when the wind blows(which is often) it turns into a sand storm. . The drive from Haines Junction (1 hr away). You first come to a visitor center and sheep Mtn, which usually has sheep visible on it. This is the dried up end, but as you drive along the lake you see the beauty as there are Mountains on both sides. There is lots of fish in the lake, but you need a powerful motor when the winds kick up. We see kayakers also, but be aware it is dangerous out there when the wind kicks up. The drive along Kluane Lake results in many bear and moose sightings in June and the wild flowers are a sight to see also. Enjoy your time here.
