NorCal Escape Co. was the first to bring the real-life escape room genre to the greater Sacramento-Valley region, with the opening of CONDEMNED in August of 2015. Now with a brand new headquarters, we are expanding...new rooms, new themes, new puzzles! Check our website for room specifics.
I love escape rooms and after hearing about this room I have tried to get a group together for a few years now. We did condemned with a group of 10 and it was amazing. Easily one of my favorite if not all time favorite room that I have done. The theme is on point and all of the puzzles are fair and well maintained. One of the issues I have had in the past with other rooms at other companies is things feeling out of place or puzzles not functioning well. This is a HARD room by the way but like I said very fair. I would not recommend it for your very first room unless you don't mind coming back a second time. Very well done and I look forward to another room from them.

Formed 1.6 million years ago and has been extinct longer than it was active. Before officially being named the "Sutter Buttes" in 1949 by the USA, the mountain range was called "Los Tres Picos" when it was in possession of the Mexican & Spanish Empires (up until 1848). Before European contact, the indigenous Maidu called the mountain range "Histum Yani" which translates to “Middle Mountains of the Valley” or “Spirit Mountain.” The mountain range has also been an "island" when the valley flooded from time to time. The first European account of this is when the newly appointed Viceroy of New Spain, Antonio de Mendoza, sent an expedition to explore the western coastline of Alta California in 1542-43, after the conquest of the Aztec Empire. According to the captain/pilot, Bartolomé Ferrer, in 1543 they had entered what was the mouth of the SF Bay and discovered an in-land sea AND an island within the northern part of the sea. This also aligns with the Maidu legend/stories/account of a "raft from God" floating around the island during a great flood. We also had the "Great Flood of 1862" which the central valley flooded again! The Sutter Buttes is also the site of the "Sutter Buttes massacre" which accord on April 5th 1846 by American Captain John C. Frémont (who also committed the Klamath Lake massacre the same year). Eyewitness William Isaac Tustin reports that at least 600-700 Indians were killed on land, with another 200 or more dying in the water. ENOUGH HISTORY • You can drive around the Buttes in about an hour if you stick to the Butte Roads that go around the range (S Butte, W Butte, N Butte, E Butte). You can bike around the same route in about 3.5 hours. • Actual access has been limited due to the fact that the buttes have been surrounded by privately held land for quite some time, primarily limiting access to that associated with guided trips (by the Middle Mountain Foundation or The Yuba Historical Society). • Best time to check out the buttes is February through May (after wet season, before dry/hot season).

The Community Memorial Museum of Sutter County shares local stories to strengthen community bonds, to inspire celebration of our diverse cultural heritage, and to demonstrate how understanding the past prepares us for the future. We are a small history museum, featuring permanent and temporary exhibits related to the Yuba-Sutter region. We also have a small gift shop!
