What to do and see in Yorkshire, England: The Best Wine Bars

June 16, 2021 Claudia Navarrete

Yorkshire (/ˈjɔːrkʃər, -ʃɪər/; abbreviated Yorks), formally known as the County of York, is a historic county of Northern England and the largest in the United Kingdom. Due to its great size in comparison to other English counties, functions have been undertaken over time by its subdivisions, which have also been subject to periodic reform. Throughout these changes, Yorkshire has continued to be recognised as a geographical territory and cultural region. The name is familiar and well understood across the United Kingdom and is in common use in the media and the military, and also features in the titles of current areas of civil administration such as North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire.

In a converted Yorkshire Bank, this lounge style 'pub' is quite unique not only in Filey. We spent an hour chatting to the hosts about the conversion from Bank to Lounge and had a good look at the original bank vault which is now one of the lounge rooms. If you visit Filey be sure do stop here for a great welcome and terrific service

Kwas Wine Shop and Bar

Kwas is a small wine shop and bar in the centre of Huddersfield. Just hiding behind Tesco’s. A mere 300 metres walk from the train station. We’ve opened the doors in December 2018 to a world of natural wine, sourcing from independent wine makers, with a variety of surprising tastes. The atmosphere is fun and at Kwas we aim to give you a great experience. We offer a space to drink out, take in, share a bottle with friends or sample by the glass. Join the conversation or relax by yourself. This is our journey into the world of real wines and we’re learning along the way. Come share our passion about simplicity, joy and the fun in life. The shop offers an adaptable art space, with regular gigs, tasting events and more. The Uk’s first 100% vegan wine bar and shop, we are proud of our little establishment. We receive fresh organic sourdough delivered every Wednesday and Friday via our very good friends Triangle Bakehouse. We hope you enjoy the shop. Dunk and Ola x

Called in for a quick pint and nearly missed the train home, working our way through the beers ! Lovely cosy pub, nice decor with a decent selection of beers. The Jewels in the Crown though were Melanie and Tracy behind the bar. No matter how busy it got, there was never a wait for a fresh pint.Talk to Tracy nicely and she'll russell you up a great chip butty too! Landlord, give these ladies a pay rise.
