Yorkshire (/ˈjɔːrkʃər, -ʃɪər/; abbreviated Yorks), formally known as the County of York, is a historic county of Northern England and the largest in the United Kingdom. Due to its great size in comparison to other English counties, functions have been undertaken over time by its subdivisions, which have also been subject to periodic reform. Throughout these changes, Yorkshire has continued to be recognised as a geographical territory and cultural region. The name is familiar and well understood across the United Kingdom and is in common use in the media and the military, and also features in the titles of current areas of civil administration such as North Yorkshire, South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire and East Riding of Yorkshire.

Art Deco Theater and Vintage Bar set in the heart of Little Germany in Bradford. Home of the best late night live entertainment. Bradford Playhouse is a diverse Theatre venue, offering a wide range of different environments and Theatre spaces. From intimidate acting venues, all the way to a grandiose Theatre stage.
On first impressions of the Playhouse I thought it was very shabby and run down and in dire need of National Lottery funding. The bar area was interesting......more shabby than chic. That said, the warmth and friendliness of all the staff was really nice and I was impressed how they took particular care and attention to people with mobility issues etc. The pantomime itself was excellent, great cast especially Buttons who gave Billy Pearce a run for his money. The drinks in the bar and ice cream in the interval were very sensibly priced I thought. I thought it was really lovely that the cast were down in the bar after the show posing for photos etc - a really lovely touch. I only booked my ticket a few days before the show after reviews from work colleagues and I am really glad I went - a thoroughly enjoyable way to spend a Saturday afternoon.

Hull has always been a quite bastion for comedy, and whilst its never gotten to the heady hights of Edinborough, its surprising how many comics have travelled through our fair city. The Comedy Lounge is Hull permenant venue for stand-up, and has now been open a couple of years and has become a well established home of laughter. Outside of the usualy theatre tours some of the more well known big names, this place offers a more 'raw' edgy feel to comedy, and with Hull being a kinda no-nonsense city, it makes perfect sense to have its own catherdral of free speech and have a great permenant comedy venue. I have visited here quite a number of times over the time its been open, probably every couple months, and I have been impressed with the offerings that have been on stage every time. There are always 3 first rate comedians, and this is all glued together with a great compare. One good sign that the place is doing well is that everytime I have been there on a weekend, its always been a sell out crowd. This in itself then helps to perpetuate a great atmostphere [especially when combined with the free flowing alcohol]. There is a full bar drinks table service, simply press the light on your table, and then a member of the team comes over, takes your order, then returns with your drinks, meaning you are uninterupted in enjoying the comedy and you also dont have other members of the public constantly getting up and in your view when you are enjoying the acts. There is food on offer if you need a little something...nothing too fancy, but ordering a plate of cheese covered nachos helps absorb the pints of beers as they slide down your throat. I am really please that this place appears to be doing so well. Paul - the manager/owner, has done wonders to get this place established. They are even attracting some more well know/up and coming artists, as well as expanding the upstairs area to cater for music acts [Abba/George Micheal tributes - as well as public hire for parties etc]. I hope it continues to go from strength to strength for many years to come....and let the laughs continue to roll!!!!
