Art is an important part of The Handsome Cab. Take a glass of wine, cocktail or beer from our restaurant downstairs to our Cab Art Gallery on the second floor. The Cab boasts local artists and showcases amazing talent in the local community and around the world..

In 2010, the tenants of 116 East King Street had the idea to turn their townhouse into a community art space. In just one year, The Parliament Arts Organization’s art shows began to draw the masses, filling the block with excitement and energy. The Parliament Arts Organization quickly became York’s advocate for talented, yet overlooked, creative professionals. Energy had filled the block, and vacant offices and storefronts on the 100 block of E. King Street rapidly transformed into artists’ studios, galleries and boutiques. The Parliament continues producing successful programs and events in The Royal Square District.

This is an awesome museum I had no idea was right here in York. It's an awesome walk through York history. My wife and I love museums and visit as many as we can where ever we go. We just love history and learning about the local history of any place we visit. This museum is amazing and is right here in York, about five minutes from the house. I was pleasantly surprised how well everything is laid out. Definitely a must see if your into local history or history at all!

The York County History Center has three museums, four historic sites and a genealogy library and archives, all located in historic York, Pa. The Museums include the Agricultural & Industrial Museum, the Historical Society Museum, and the Fire Museum. Historic sites are the Colonial Complex, the Bonham House, and the Murals of York.
First, get the tickets good for this place, the industrial history museum, and, when open, the Colonial center. Well worth it. The history center is well-done with some very significant artifacts, including a huge display of case clocks, a lot of Colonial items, and some good WWII era items. But, the real gem is the nearby industrial museum, which has a display of Pullman Automobiles, some other historic autos, and a lot of steampunk industrial items that were just pure fun! Very well done. The Colonial buildings were not open due to cold but we could at least walk past and admire them. This entire complex is one of the best American history centers I've visited out of many. Admission to all is $15 per adult. My wife and I plan to go back in better weather to do it again.

The Weightlifting Hall of Fame contains a diverse history of the strength sports, their evolution from mythology to early Olympic Games and from the 19th and 20th century amateur and professional strongmen to the current specialized sport of Olympic weightlifting, power lifting and bodybuilding. The Weightlifting Hall of Fame encompasses approximately 8,000 square feet of the space and is housed in the first floor of the York Barbell administrative building, adjacent to York's warehouse and distribution facility, 2 miles north of York at exit 24 on Interstate 83.
I really enjoyed walking about the museum. Looks like it was initially dedicated to a single man who was instrumental in nationalizing the sport. It expanded to include some really great and unique history of how the sport developed, including internationally and the Olympics. Mostly discusses the people, less so the associated equipment and venues. It is an absolute must-visit for anyone who has serious interest in bodybuilding and a good visit for those who want to see the passion behind a dedicated group.
The York Art Association began in 1905 when three visual artists and several businessmen came together to exchange views and interests. Over one hundred years later, it has evolved into a vital organization with over 400 members with varied artistic interests and skill levels. Exhibitions are offered throughout the year that are free and open to the public. Discover Us, Discover Yourself!
