Just two hours north of London by rail, the city of York holds 1900 years' worth of history in its ancient walls. The Romans built the city in 71 AD, and the Vikings captured it in 866 AD. Stop by the Yorkshire Museum and Gardens for a look at what the Roman and Vikings left behind (they must have packed light when they left). From there, move on to the York Castle Museum for a not-so-quick overview of the most recent 400 years.

At the shop there are rooms of curios, antiquities, art and antiques. All at affordable prices. We have coins, pottery, collectibles, prints and posters, paintings....you name it, you will find it here! If not, our staff may help you obtain this elusive item. There are many cabinets of the like you would see in any antique center, but more variety and quirky. There is a weird room, a curio room of antiquities, fossils, mirrors. Books and random finds, a junk room, racks of ephemera, old photos, sheet music and who knows with serendipity! Free valuations and advice.

The French House York has a large showroom just north of the city. They boast one of the most extensive ranges of French antiques in the UK. This includes a large selection of beds, mirrors, lights, tables, as well as other treasures ranging from the 17th to 20th Century. The French House is open six days per week (Monday to Saturday 10am-4pm) and there is customer parking available.

If you visit York and are interested in antiques and vintage items, then the Red House Antique Centre near York Minster, is a must. There is a wonderful selection of items, ranging from a few pounds to more expensive antiques. The items are mainly in cabinets but don't be afraid to ask the friendly assistants for assistance. My favourite cabinet, full of vintage items, is just outside the cafe (Cafe Feva). By the way, the cafe is well worth a visit and 'safe'.

Bar Farm Antiques is a unique experience. Located on a three acre site 10 miles east of York on the A1079. Pleasant shopping in a relaxed atmosphere. Be sure to enjoy a cup of tea and cake in the Old Albion Tea Room. Very helpful and friendly staff.
Well worth a visit, huge and varied amount of stuff and a very friendly proprietor. Many and varied items all well laid out with concrete paths. Would certainly visit again. The tea room prices seemed very reasonable.

I found this lovely shop online, it has some amazing pieces and initially i was tempted by a beautiful bracelet which I ordered. Service was amazing and it arrived in a couple of days. I then got tempted by a beautiful and unusual ring - I was a little uncertain whether it was too much for everyday wear so phoned and spoke to Debbie. She was so helpful, the ring needed resizing but even with this I received it in under a week. I was kept informed of progress all the way along and would highly recommend this lovely shop. I am so happy with the beautiful jewellery I have received!
