Yogyakarta boasts stunning architecture and a truly spiritual sensibility. The ancient Hindu temples of Prambanan look like hand-drizzled sand castles, while the Sultan's palace is reminiscent of a gilded music box filled with jewels. Known for its arts and handicrafts, Yogyakarta is a cultural hub, a nerve center for traditional and modern puppetry.

It is a smaller version of Borobudur but ver very well maintained. the whole area is kept clean and the temple structure is still strong with carvings of Buddhist history in excellent condition. Imagine this temple is built in the 9 century!!

Another additional stop on our itinerary. For 200 years this majestic mosque has provided the central focus for Muslims in the city. Our guide asked for us to be allowed in, a example of the gentle form of Islam practised on Java was that we were permitted to wonder in, provided with a sarong and shown how to do the ritual washing. It was serene. A privilege to go there.

It is hard to believe it now, but just 15 years ago these temples were unrestored piles of collapsed stones which only archaeologists were interested in. With a number of temples now restored to something approaching their original beauty, Candi Ijo is now one of the most impressive Javanese temple sites and a must-see for tourists to Yogyakarta. That said, restorations are still ongoing here and the total of six restored temples may eventually be added to. The main temple, or candi induk, is a remarkable structure which features kudu heads, kala niches and a truly gargantuan yoni. Its three satellite temples are also in condition and one of them shelters one of the most perfect Nandi statues in all of Java. It is also worth mentioning that this temple has sweeping views of the Prambanan Plain being situated at a height of 420 metres above sea level. Entrance costs 10,000 rupiah for foreigners.

You can join local saturday mass here at 4 pm using Javanese language at the open church. Feel very peaceful even though I can't understand the language. There's a temple next to the church and inside there's Jesus Christ statue. You can pray here and take holy water from 9 tap water beside the temple (candi). Bath room available here. Visitors can take a bath without using soap, shampoo and no towel needed to dry your body. The water is easy to evaporate and your clothes will not get wet. it's magic and people believe if you take a bath here, it will release your pain and you will be healed (physically and mentally). I do believe that :)

“Titik 0 Kilometer Yogyakarta” is not an ordinary crossing, most fun hanging out here above at 12 AM actually (for me who sometimes look for a quieter atmosphere), even though at 12 AM there is no guarantee this place is quiet. Why? “Titik 0 Kilometer Yogyakarta” can be said to be the “Yogyakarta’s pulse”. Besides its strategic location, it is located at the end of Jalan Malioboro, not far from the Palace of Yogyakarta, Vredeburg Fort, where many people hang out spending the night playing or listening to music, or just taking selfies. Surrounded by old buildings from the Dutch era (especially the 3 surrounding buildings, BNI Building, Bank Indonesia Building, and Indonesian Post Office Building), the wide surrounding sidewalks are made of beautiful marble stones with greening around them making spot in “Titik 0 Kilometer Yogyakarta” as one of the instragamable and ethnic spots in the city of Yogyakarta. In addition, “Titik 0 Kilometer Yogyakarta” is one of the witnesses of history, including a major battle for maintained Indonesia's independence, a battle known as the "Serangan Umum March 1, 1949" (general attack March 1, 1949).
