Yogyakarta boasts stunning architecture and a truly spiritual sensibility. The ancient Hindu temples of Prambanan look like hand-drizzled sand castles, while the Sultan's palace is reminiscent of a gilded music box filled with jewels. Known for its arts and handicrafts, Yogyakarta is a cultural hub, a nerve center for traditional and modern puppetry.

If you are the first time to Yogya, this is recommended, surround by hotels, shops, batik shops, local foods, international foods, mc.donalds, starbucks etc to gudeg, soto, fried rice until hidden gems like delicious pork satay. Malioboro is the way to Kraton (Yogyakarta Palace) so this is important road and you may walk from train station to Kraton. Dont forget to visit the local traditional market and Hamzah Batik for one stop souvenir shoppings and cafe also cabaret show in Hamzah batik 3rd floor. Search Hamzah Batik/Raminten Cabaret review.
