Top marks to John and team for an outstanding operation. We (family of four, all fairly keen cyclists) hired bikes for the day and were really impressed by the quality and condition of the bikes themselves, and with the communication and administration behind the hire. John and his colleagues gave us really helpful advice on routes and destinations and we all had a great day heading over to Freshwater Bay, up to the Needles, and down the west coast of the island back towards Yarmouth. As the website says, if you're driving to Yarmouth to pick up your bikes, park in the public car park and walk the 5 minutes to the (old) station - there's definitely no parking there!

Tapnell Farm Park is an award winning, all-weather family attraction on the Isle of Wight. Formerly one of the Isle of Wight's largest dairy farms, Tapnell Farm Park now plays host to a whole range of animals, including Wallabies, Meerkats, Donkeys, Goats and more! It also has loads of indoor and outdoor activities for families, including a large Play Barn, Jumping Pillow, Pedal Go Karts, and a Straw Bale Adventure Barn.
We live on the island and had never ventured down to Tapnell. Having some family here we decided to finally check it out. I was anticipating your average farm but it was so much more than that. From the indoor play barn suitable for all ages, with zip lines, trampolines, climbing walls, slides and go karts to all the wonderful animals you can pet (we saw pigs, goats, guinea pigs, rabbits, aplacas, wallabies & meerkats). Then you have the brilliant outdoor play area with the bouncing pillows! My 4 year old spent ages on the pillows and absolutely loved it and since we left has asked daily if we can go back! We went during the “covid” period so the indoor play barn was shut but that didn’t bother us, they’re currently doing online booking only and it’s for 3 hour slots in morning or afternoon, I found that plenty of time as after 3 hours I was exhausted! I would absolutely recommend this place if you’re visiting the island or even if you live here like us!

The Isle of Wight Reptilarium and Terrapin sanctuary is a small Licensed Zoo set in the brick Arches of the old Victorian Gun Casemates at Fort Victoria Country Park with FREE PARKING. Explore the four themed rooms featuring Reptiles, Amphibians and Invertebrates in just over 30 displays. There is a Desert Room, Rainforest room, Nocturnal Room and Turtle temple. - The turtle temple houses our Pond which provides a sanctuary for unwanted pet terrapins. The Nocturnal room, where day is night and night is day so grab one of our explorers torches to spot our night time creatures in the moonlight. The gift shop is well stocked with reptile themed gifts, fossils and gemstones and on the wall you will see our Fossil art trail mural by local artist Tony Trowbridge depicting what was living off the coast of Fort Victoria some 30 million years ago! The Reptilarium has all day entry so a visit is best enjoyed alongside exploring the country park and beach plus other attractions.
This is a lovely little attraction in a unique building which is well worth a visit. Lots of really interesting reptiles on display in immaculate well scaped habitats and a very unusual nocturnal room where torches are provided to see all of the inhabitants. The highlight for us was the 70+ rescued turtles and terrapins housed in a large pool in the middle. A pot of turtle food can be bought from the well stocked gift shop along with snake skins and various pocket money toys. The owner is lovely and very knowledgeable and passionate about what she does and all in all this place is well worth a visit.

For over 20 years this lovely model railway has been one of the key attractions here at the heart of the Fort Victoria Area, but has for a long time been suffering and looking tired, now with new ownership we look to rectify all of that and have taken onboard all your comments, concerns and constructive criticism. We are very much looking forward to re-opening the attraction and starring the next wonderful chapter in the life of the Fort Victoria Model Railway - a new chapter that I know will be a very good one and bring delight and joy to all those that visit. So watch this space and we will be delighted to announce the re-opening as soon as we can. In the meantime we wish everyone a safe and happy time.
