Brier Island is a great spot for the outdoor enthusiast. Two short ferry rides @ $7 CDN each for your return trips. After a whale watching excursion we did a little poking around. After a visit to the general store for gas & directions we set off to find Pond Cove beach. There is a small painted sign on a shed pointing the way down a dirt road. At some points it seems to be nothing more than a footpath. Finally, we reach the beach! It is helpful to know the tide times to be able to fully explore the beach at low tide. It is quite rocky at points but lovely sand beach beyond. Lots of interesting rocks, shells, & sea birds and we even spotted gray seals. Plenty of photographic opportunities to capture maritime life at it's best. Spend the day & enjoy exploring!

Ocean Explorations Zodiac Whale Cruises is the maritimes ORGINAL Zodiac ("ocean rafting") whale/seabird adventure! Celebrating 30+ seasons, founded by biologist Tom Goodwin, in 1986! "one of the best" (Lonely Planet) and the most recommended by accomodation providers in the area. Ask them "who is the BEST?" and go with THEM (ie. we'll see you then) We are the 'premium' option - using only ONE 'commercial grade' professional "zodiac" (type) boat - rugged commercial construction with twin engines is the professional standard. Biologist Tom Goodwin is one of the most 'famous' and qualified/experienced whale guides, IN THE WORLD. (see the world famous Triple Breach video online, link from the website, or google it). He is doing 95% of the tours himself now. It is the ONLY professional grade zodiacs in use in nova scotia and only biologist/owner (too). If this site doesn't allow quoting websites. google triple breach and/or Tom Goodwin (he's not the baseball player one! :-) )
Followed a couple of humpback whales around while one put on a tail slapping dance. Tom Goodwin was an excellent guide. Be sure to see balancing rock formation. The trail is less than a mile away ( short trail with some steps but an incredible view).

Welcome to Cape Forchu, a Light Like No Other. This spectacular and unique "apple core" lighthouse is the second most photographed lighthouse in Nova Scotia and located just 10 minutes outside the Town of Yarmouth. The Cape has been welcoming visitors since 1604, when Samuel de Champlain landed and named the area "Cap Forchu," meaning "Forked tongue of land."
It's not just a lighthouse to take photos. It is a beautiful location to hike and enjoy the cool breezes on a hot summer day. Nice people working in the gift shop, too.

We met at this park for our walking tour with Candice, and found it to be a very pretty location. Full of history, but we didn't see the ghost in the top hat during our short visit.

We were driving by this location and decided to drop in to have a look. We drove in and were greeted by the owner of this replica. He was very informative and answered all our questions. The visit was free with a donation box to show one's appreciation for the effort put into this site. We went away pleased that we stopped by.

The misty fogs of the rugged coastal town of Yarmouth, Nova Scotia is home to the Heritage Brewing Company. Where the rocky cliffs meet the pounding surf you can find the unique flavours hops and grains used by this brewing company. Founded in 2017 by 4 friends, they join a long held Maritime brewing tradition by making great batches of high quality craft beer.

We really enjoyed our ferry ride from Digby, NS to Saint John, NB. It was relaxing to sit and have a glass of wine and a sandwich from the cafeteria during this crazy corona virus pandemic. There were very few passengers on board so it was easy to social distance and you must wear a mask in most areas of the ferry. It felt like our own private yacht!! I was able to do my emails and my husband watched TV. The ferry was spotlessly clean and the staff was very helpful and professional. The electrical outlets need an adapter which you can get from the staff. It was expensive but worth it. I would highly recommend taking the ferry.

While mostly stones, there is some sand initially. When the tide out a spacious beach. Quirky story of the man who was found on the beach many years ago. Limited parking but worth the trip.

Experience the Maritimes the way they’re meant to be seen—by sea. The fastest way to get from Maine to Nova Scotia, the high-speed CAT ferry will take you on a two-nation vacation between Bar Harbor and Yarmouth in just 3.5 hours. Featuring plenty of onboard amenities and a knowledgeable staff and crew, your journey will be more than just fast, it will be a chance to discover the tastes, sights, and sounds of the Atlantic en route. And, at half the driving time, you’ll have even more of an opportunity to explore the Nova Scotia’s coastal beauty beyond the horizon.
We took this 5.5 hour Ferry from Yarmouth, Nova Scotia to Portland, Maine after a four week driving / exploring trip from NJ to Arcadia National Park, Price Edward Island,CA, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia and Vaughan, Nova Scotia. Taking the ferry saved us many hours of driving as well as backtracking in areas we had already been. We had pre-purchased tickets (which is recommended) a couple of months in advance and we stayed in the Yarmouth area ( actually Arcadia NS) the night before to insure we would be there at 7:30 am check in for an 8:30 am departure. Check in and boarding were easy and all the personnel were friendly and helpful. After parking your vehicle on the ferry all passengers must go to the upper decks for the 5.5 hr passage. We brought our own food for the trip but there were several nice concession stands selling food, snacks and drinks. The passenger deck was clean, nicely decorated with super comfortable reclining seats or seats with tables. Large screen tv's were strategically located. They had movies in a central location and a kids play area. You could get fresh air on the side and rear deck areas. They had a fun bingo and group trivia games which you could join for about 90 minutes in the middle of the trip to entertain and pass the time. Cruise was smooth and enjoyable. Started in a fog bank outside Yarmouth and broke into a nice sunny day in about 2 hours. Upon exiting we got through US Customs in about 15 minutes. This was a bit pricey but an enjoyable experience which saved us from backtracking and many hours of driving. Dan & Karen Old Bridge, NJ
