The livable, lovable city of Xiamen teems with university students buzzing amid Buddhist temples, art galleries and beautiful parks. The city is actually comprised of islands; one of which, Gulangyu, is a peaceful bohemian oasis that's completely vehicle-free. Nibble on some glass noodles or juicy dumplings while perusing shops stuffed with antiques, delicate beads or ceramics.

We offer accommodation, travel guides and transportation (including ferry tickets) from/to Gulangyu Island. Please call us, email us or check our website for more information.
As part of a Viking Ocean excursion, we visited Gulangyu Island and enjoyed the scenery, Shuzhuang garden, and the piano museum. There is a cultural tradition on the island which also features mansions and impressive European style buildingd and bridges. I have numerous photos of our experience on the island.

Stroll down the street for a lazy Sunday stroll. The road is so clean and shops nearly laid out. Fulfilled my craving for Hokkien dishes like oyster omelette, fried Mee Sua and other local delicacies. There are many indoor eateries with a wide variety of fresh seafood. After trying the first outlet there were more along the way. Great ambiance.

We took a cab from Pan Pacific hotel to this night market, which costed 29 RMB (4 USD) walking across the pedestrian bridge, we reached the night market. We enjoyed the atmosphere and the snacks. This night market is vibrant and full of tourists from all over China, everyone was cheerful and enjoying the cool evening browsing eating all sorts of snacks. We have been traveling extensively in China for the past fifteen years, which we leaned to have an opened mind and very glad to see that China is prospering and still maintaining its own local culture. Overall, we had good time at this lively night market; great atmosphere.
