We stayed at the Holiday Inn on the north side of the island. The beach here is rather gritty with lot of broken shells - wear foot protection. As you go north, there is plenty of parking and access. We prefer the sandier south end - go all the way to parking at the end of the road. There is also street parking. The cost is $5 per hour or $25 per day. You can walk around the nesting area to calmer water on the other side of the breakwater.

We have been frequenting Mott's Channel Seafood for years. It's known by locals as THE best place to get freshest and widest selection of great fish, alongside the best tasting and looking fresh shrimp I have found, (one of our favorite things to do is after being on the boat or beach is planning a simple meal of shrimp & grits w/ fresh vegetables , all found at Mott's Channel. Of course, there is also available the incredible home made key lime pie as a treat! The grits packages are all-inclusive, no need to add ingredients, thus healthier for you. Plus it's simple to make. Their fresh corn, local vegetables available are there for the taking. The staff is always helpful about which is best for how you want to cook, they are very knowledgeable -- their boats come in and out daily here, docked right by the seafood shop. Drive right up, no parking problems , look for it near the marinas along the water between between Banks Channel & the I.C.W. A must go-to spot for fresh-catch.

The pier bar at the Oceanic Restaurant sits at the end of the outside dining area on the Crystal pier and has become one of our favorite places to go to when at Wrightsville Beach. There are plenty of seats around the bar and benches on the pier while enjoying the sunsets, wave breaks and fantastic views. They have music a few evenings a week. Decent beer selection for a small outside bar, with a few on tap, and reasonably priced and generous wine pours. The ultimate beach atmosphere.
