Wildwood Wildlife Park Zoo of the Northwood's for over 51 years. Experience the wonders of nature found throughout our park with animals from around the world. Wildwood Wildlife Park is all about providing experiences that last a lifetime with every visit no matter your age. Guests love the Animal Encounter Area, Animal Nursery, Petting zoo. Guests love feeding the bears "Bear Juice" and hand feeding "Critter Crackers to the whitetail deer, camel, sheep, pot-belly pigs, and goats. It's an Awesome Family Experience!
We took our 2 year old granddaughter who loves animals. Her favorite part was the bunny cages, maybe because they were so small. She loved feeding the deer too & some of the other animals in cages, but the goats scared her. There were only 3 of them, but they overwhelmed her & fortunately we encountered them as we were leaving (on the way in, she was in her stroller) & they nearly knocked her down even though she wasn't carrying food. There is a vast variety of animals & I'm considering a grandparents membership since we live only an hour or so away. Wear comfortable shoes & bring quarters. Feed machines located throughout cost 50 cents but you can get a small bag when you come in for $5 or 2 for $8 (save the bag for feed machine use). I think animals in cages are not quite as interesting to the toddler set unless they are up moving around. The sleeping bear held no interest for our 2 year old & she loves the bear shows on TV but the chasing foxes she liked. Next year I'm sure will be different for her & she'll appreciate more of the sedentary wildlife as years go by. We stayed about 2 1/2 hours which was right for her, but with older kids, you probably want to stay longer. We did not do the tram ride in the safari area based on another's review. Plus, it is an additional $8, payable @ the tram ride & not included in the entry fee.

Every Monday night of summer, there is Snowshoe Baseball under the lights in Lake Tomahawk. Start the evening off w/ a burger, brat, or hot dog plus homemade pie, prepared and sold by local community organizations like the Lions, Lionesses, American Legion, etc. Proceeds go to developing the park area and to financing the peerless lake Tomahawk 4th of July fireworks display. You can cheer on the Snowhawks home team and may even have a chance to play yourself. There are also opportunities to win prizes from local meat market, restaurants, salons and gift shop.

Wish they had more of their own beer on tap, but I understand they are going through a growing period and the beer is being made.
The Tap Room is very nice, uncomfortable chairs, although they look awesome.
The owner is very nice, a must try for beer lovers. And the owner drew or mapped this beer map out by herself freehand....girl has talent, check it out!

I think I enjoy these shows More, each year I return! The young men who train, and train, and train, and perform in the Lumberjack shows, well, it just blows me Away! It's part history, part entertainment, and very, very much, entertaining and FUN!!! Even the fact that a few lucky Young members of the audience, get to take away a terrific, hand-hewn, right in front of their eyes, practical piney-wood souvenir, is part of the entertainment!
These tools are seriously dangerous, and the remarkable ease with which these young men manipulate and handle them, is greatly Impressive! I am awed by imagining the countless hours of practice and rehearsal these dangerous, And Entertaining, feat do take! Hurray to the Trainers, too!
If you are in the Northwoods, if you are anywhere in 100 miles of Minocqua, WI, The Lumberjack shows are So Worth traveling to! Please, do! You will be thrilled that you did, and so will your entire Family!

This museum honors a woman who, among other accomplishments, led the drive to build a hospital for her small community and is remembered as The Angel on Snowshoes for her dedication in reaching patients when the winter roads were impassable. The museum is just around the corner from the "World's Largest Penny."
I heard about the big penny and went to see it. It only takes a few minutes and the plaque tells the story of children raising money to build the local hospital by collecting pennies.

This is packed fine gravel hiking and biking trail built on an old railroad bed. One of my top three nature places in the U.S.
Besides going by lakes and cabins and summer homes, this trail passes an historic doctor's house and lots of marsh lands with birch and pine trees. I especially like it in the fall with the change in leaves, and I think that is the best time of year.
Crisp nights with nearly endless blue sunny days in the autumn.
You will see chipmunks and various birds. Go far enough, and there are a few secluded picnic tables out of Minocqua.

Great little rehab for wild animals just off the main drag of Minocqua. Have been to area many times since my good friend's family owns Camp Highland for Boys in the area. Don't know why have never stopped there before, but am very glad we decided to visit this time.
Although most of the animals that are being rehabbed are not available to view because they don't want them to get acclimated to humans, what they do show you is very interesting. The birds of prey on view can not be released back into the wild so they are providing them a home and the public education about them at the same time.
Inside the building you will meet Russell the crow. (I love this name). He is very friendly and will actually talk to you. They also have a baby feeding area where you can watch through a window as they care for them.
Our guide was an intern. She was very informative and could answer all the questions that she was asked. They are doing a great job and deserve all the support they can get. Admission is free, but they will take donations.

On vacation we like to challenge ourselves with a round of golf here. This year was no exception. The course was in exceptional shape and the staff very friendly. What really impressed me was their support of youth golfers. When we showed up they were having a clinic for kids of all ages which included skills training and a round of golf on their course. There must have been 100 kids. Glad to see them support the community and sports. Kudos to you. It is worth your time to play here. Oh yeah, bring extra golf balls for the narrow fairways.

We stopped in to see what the distillery was all about. We were greeted by the owner and another young man and offered samples all of which were fantastic. I was excited to taste the coffee vodka but encouraged to save it until last. After the first sip I knew that I would be taking it home. We have since shared with friends and families and get the same reaction. Wonderful experience and fantastic products!
