We live in south Georgia, USA. My now husband dreamed of a castle wedding in Germany, near the base where he grew up. He found this castle in a search online and fell in love. First off, I did not see this place until the day of my wedding, besides internet pictures. Let me tell you how amazing everything was! The place itself is absolutely breathtaking. This is the sort of place I imagine in medieval times. Through the courtyard and up the long winding uneven perfectly castle-like staircase I went to my bridal room that seemed something out of an illustrated novel. Back down the stairs to the Salon, where one can have even greater views and see all the history and family paintings of those who lived in there before. All the way to dining hall or the ball room, it was all so picturesque. Each area of the castle was more than the imagination could really soak in. We had our wedding in the little chapel out back that was so awe-inspiring I could not use words to describe how romantic that place really is. As we took our horse-drawn carriage back to the castle, we were taken to the former wine cellar for dinner and the reception. Hallmark Christmas Movies, EAT YOUR HEART OUT! This place was better than a movie! All my guests as well as my husband and me can still not stop talking about this place. We plan to fly back to Germany at least once every two years just to visit this place again. It is amazing! Now let's discuss the staff. I love FABIAN! He was the most wonderful host! During the lull of the wedding, while we were taking photos, he took the guests on a personalized tour of the castle. Luckily, we got to join them mid-tour. It was so wonderful to hear the stories of how the castle came to be and how his family crest was made, which is all laid out in the ambiance of the castle. After showing each room and teaching us about the history, we went to the tip top of the castle, where there is a round viewing area, seemingly untouched in a hundred years. You can see 360 around the grounds, and look off into the distance to the mountains. Let me just say, from the servers at the reception, staff at brunch, check out counter, bathroom cleaners, and Fabian himself, I cannot speak well enough about our time there. The people were so sweet, understanding, and accommodating. Our honeymoon suite was so rich with history that I still tear up thinking about that room, and how much that place means to such a wonderful family. If you want to go to Germany, stop in Witzenhausen. Go to Schloss Berlepsche and have your mind opened, let your imagination wonder, and let your heart be filled with the rich history and love that surrounds such a practically perfect place to be.
