When you think “adventure travel” you probably think of far-flung places like Belize and Alaska—not Wisconsin. But if you’re an outdoor adventurer, you’ll find plenty of places to explore in Wisconsin. A vacation in Wisconsin can put you close to the Kettle Moraine State Forest, which has excellent biking trails. Or choose Wisconsin’s Apostle Islands—kayakers will love exploring Lake Superior’s many caves and shipwrecks.
Packers fans don’t wear those cheese-wedge hats for nothing! Foodies will love tasting as many of Wisconsin’s artisanal cheeses as possible. Either drive from cheesemaker to cheesemaker, or choose a Wisconsin vacation in a town with a good farmers’ market—then the cheesemakers bring their wares to you. And what goes better with artisanal cheese than craft beer? In Milwaukee, visit the Lakefront and Sprecher Breweries for tours and tastings.
Wisconsin Dells is a classic family vacation destination. A vacation in Wisconsin Dells will put you close to all the excitement—you’ll have to tear the kids away from the theme parks, wave pools and water parks in Wisconsin Dells!
Lake Geneva boasts clean beaches, golf, and a small-town feel that definitely appeals to city dwellers—it’s a popular getaway for residents of Chicago.

Taliesin, the home, studio and estate of Frank Lloyd Wright, is located in the hilly Driftless Region of southwestern Wisconsin near Spring Green. It is the name of Wright’s house as well as the 800-acre estate that includes buildings from all decades of Wright’s career. Its many wings and terraces reach out around the ridge of the hill, embracing the site and standing as “brow.” Taliesin was the residence of Wright and the valley was his inspiration and life-long laboratory for architectural designs and innovation. Taliesin represents the most complete embodiment of Wright’s philosophy of Organic Architecture. The Taliesin residence is the heart of a series of buildings that Wright designed for himself and his family members on the estate. Other buildings include: Romeo & Juliet Windmill (1896), Hillside Home School (1903), Tan-y-Deri (1908), Hillside Drafting Studio (1932), Midway Barn (1949), Hillside Theater (1952), and the Frank Lloyd Wright Visitor Center (1967).
Welcome to Taliesin Preservation! This is one of the best places to visit and learn about the life of Frank Lloyd Wright, both personal and professional. It is located about 30 minutes West of Madison, WI, and 2.5 hours from Chicago, IL. There are a variety of tours offered at Taliesin. We went on the Taliesin House 2-hour tour. The tour guide, Linda, was very engaging and knowledgeable about Frank Lloyd Wright’s professional achievements and intricacies in his personal life. By walking from one room to another, it was amazing to “touch” and feel the environment the great architect had lived in. There was so much curiosity around every corner. The architectural element simplicity had blended beautifully with the surrounding nature view as well as the artifacts inside and carefully designed interior. Time went by so quickly. Come and visit the Taliesin Preservation. Learn more about Frank Lloyd Wright’s accomplishments and have a full day of relaxation. Enjoy your visit at Taliesin Preservation!

One of Madison's most popular attractions, this oasis of green includes a sunken garden, perennial garden, rose garden, rock garden, herb garden, wildflower garden and a tropical conservatory.
Some friends and I try to meet up somewhere every fall. This year I read about and picked this spot as Madison is a halfway point for all. I was absolutely amazed at this gem - free parking, free access to the outdoor areas and only $2.00 to explore the indoor conservatory. The volunteers greeted us when we walked into the conservatory, and one went so far as to walk us around and point out all the different areas so that we wouldn't miss any of it. There is a gift shop that is stocked with seeds, bulbs, cards that can be planted, clothing and much, much more. The conservatory has lush plants, trees, ferns, a koi pond and other water features. After exploring inside we went out and walked all of the different paths and areas that were very well maintained, and a true sensory treat! Photography is a hobby of mine, and I came home with almost 60 pictures and could easily have taken more. We are looking forward to meeting up again in other seasons. If you are in the Madison area, do yourself a favor and take the time to enjoy this wonderful place!

The park is open everyday from 8 to 5.
Whenver we go up to Door County - whether to pick cherries or to relax on Washington Island - we almost always stop at Cave Point Park to get amazed at the way the lake pounds under the shore, creating these unique "caves" down below. It's hard to get tired watching the work of waves...

Flawlessly executed by Master Illusionists Rick & Suzan Wilcox. Entertainment at the highest level that "will completely enthrall you", says Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel theater critic Damien Jaques. "The Rick Wilcox Show is the ultimate family show. As good as anything you will see in Las Vegas." This show features original fast-paced illusions that keep this awe-inspiring show fresh and fun. After getting to know Rick & Suzan on stage with their easy charm, quick wit and amazing illusions, you'll have a chance to actually meet the stars after the show. Once again the Rick Wilcox Magic Show bamboozled me. But first, a few comments about the “Business” side of “Show Business.” Besides being skilled artists, most magicians are small business owners. The Small Business Administration says 50% of all new small businesses fold within the first year. Further, 90% fold within five years. Rick Wilcox is now in his 21st year at his Wisconsin Dells theatre. His enduring power alone is great testimony to the high caliber of his family magic show. He couldn’t sustain year after year without top-flite programming. Second, some comments about the “Show” side of “Show Business.” Plan to arrive early because 15 minutes or so before showtime, on-screen instructions lead the audience through a playful routine of “warm-up” experiences that culminate with everyone joyfully singing “Sweet Caroline.” The built-up anticipation is climaxed with the instant production of a fire engine red Lamborghini; Rick climbs out of the car and enters to start the show. Three types of magic exist: big stage illusions, stand-up magic performed in front of the curtains, and intimate close-up magic. Working closer together than husband and wife deeply in love after decades of marriage (oh, wait, they are), Rick and Susan Wilcox present a strategic mix of all three magic categories. Their stage illusions include the mind-blowing, stage-filling production of a helicopter and the classic levitation of Susan who not only floats to the stage but Rick also floats up to join her. In front of the curtains, Rick acknowledges Susan’s birthday. Since he can’t take her to Arizona for a vacation, he decides to bring Arizona to her and defies the laws of physics by presenting her with a saguaro cactus that he amazingly places inside a huge balloon that doesn’t break. For close-up magic, a TV camera projects an on-screen view as four coins move to various locations on a table top before exploding to 16 coins in a magic effect his father taught Rick years ago. You may see a few eyes dripping tears as the full story is told. Bottom line: the Rick and Susan Wilcox (including her 15 costume changes) Magic Show is absolutely terrific and it is easy to see why it is rated the number one family show in the Dells.

Even my wife and daughter enjoyed the Hall of Fame and stadium visit! The HOF is located right next to Lambeau Field and is a really high quality interactive display of Green Bay Packers history, and there's a lot of it over the past 100 years. I wanted to stay longer than the 90 minutes allowed, but there are some COVID restrictions in place to keep everyone safe. Each HOF Packer player has a display and video of his highlights. All the championship trophies are kept here. The top games and seasons are highlighted and there's a 15 minute video giving a survey of the Green Bay Packer NFL franchise and how it became owned by the fans rather than a billionaire.

This park's 3,775 acres have miles of hiking and biking trails, and clean, uncrowded beaches.
Peninsula State Park is a Wisconsin treasure. Biking and hiking trails, a comfortable beach, a historic stop at the Eagle Bluff Lighthouse, serene drives and camping grounds. It is a must stop for us every single time we visit Door County.

Devil's Lake has great hiking trails.
I’ve been in love with Devils Lake ever since I first came here more than 30 years ago. No matter what time of year, it never fails to deliver beautiful views and great walks. Whether here for the day or the week, this place is worth the visit. There’s a beach in both the north and south shore and boat rentals (kayaks, row boats and paddle boats) to rent, concession stands, charcoal grills and LOTS of picnic tables. And the trails are wonderful. If you plan on camping, make reservations as soon as possible as they fill up quickly. Only $3/car if you’re a senior. Great way to spend a day.

At 590 feet, this area offers scenic views.
We had a group of 30 motorcyclists venture up the winding road to the top of the bluff on a perfect weather day to view the expanse of LaCrosse and the Mississippi River. It was well worth the ride.
