Large lake to walk around, going through woody areas so nice & cool on a hot day plus large open grass areas suitable for picnics. Theres a small cafe & toilets which are open plus a play park but that's closed at the moment. Plenty of swans, geese & ducks to feed. Popular with dog walkers & cyclists. Theres a large car park which has an overflow area on a field for busy times & costs £1 for 2 hours. Great place for families with small children.

Very popular location in Royal Wootton Bassett. Maxines cafe does a nice coffee and bacon butty. Car park needs expanding to meet the high demand. Rightly deserves the number 1 spot.

Forest and lake.part of the Longleat stately home estate
A beautiful, well managed lake with a tearoom which serves fairly priced well made food but if it is busy don’t try to park on the road! The amount of people ignoring the signs to not park is infuriating as it often creates a huge road hazard with cars unable to pass and dogs and children on the road. If you visit and the car park is full try Heaven’s Gate or Cley Hill or Cannimore Woods or any one of the huge number of local beauty spots and don’t risk an accident or a ticket please.

You will find us located in rural Wiltshire - not far from Stonehenge. There are two large clear water lakes and the adjoining River Avon. No matter if you are a novice or expert fisherman, we pride ourselves in ensuring you gain the best experience from your visit! Both lakes are spring water fed, gin clear and stocked daily with a selection of rainbow trout ranging from 2lb to double figures! To compliment the lakes, there is just under one mile of Upper Chalk Stream Avon. This beautiful stretch of river, made famous by the late Frank Sawyer, is renowned for its fantastic brown trout and grayling! The River Avon is stocked with brown trout only, the majority of which are the original Avon browns. There is also a good head of grayling, up to 3lb - which makes a great days sporting! You've fished the rest, Now fish the best! Open from 8.30am onwards - 7 days a week
Just had another brilliant day’s fishing at Avon Springs! All three of us caught our limit of fish in about five hours. Because the trout are reared here on the site in the fast-running clear water of the Upper River Avon they are fighting fit. The last one I caught nearly pulled my arm off as it streaked across the lake jumping and fighting for about 15 minutes. Both lakes are very well looked after so that casting is not too impeded by trees. The far lake is a great challenge with lots of bays and creeks and loads of natural wildlife. Best of all the fish taste great as they have so little fat on them as they have been reared in the fast-running clear chalk-spring water.

The Wilts & Berks Canal is an historic waterway that runs for over 50 miles from the Thames at Abingdon to link to the Kennet and Avon canal close to Melksham. The canal is being carefully restored by enthusiastic volunteers to bring benefit to local communities and wildlife.
We took the 45 minute round canal trip on 'The Dragonfly' Wednesday morning. The boat left from the landing stage next to Waitrose in Wichelstow so a good place for coffee and cake afterwards! The canal boat can hold 12 people - there were 5 on the trip we took, other trips during the day were all fully booked. The two crew members were volunteers and were very helpful and informative about the boat and the canal restoration. Lovely wildlife - a heron followed the boat and it was amazing to see it up close. Duck food was available to feed ducks (50p) and children enjoyed this.
