We had an absolutely fantastic day with John and Paul baking some great food and enjoying some great company. From the minute we walked in, the atmosphere was relaxed and we were welcomed with coffee and homemade scones. The day was paced really well; we learned three recipes which took the day and I learnt plenty of new skills - by the end of the day I had so much to take home with me. Lunch was amazing too - home made mac and cheese! Would recommend to anyone who loves baking or would like to try baking for the first time. We will definitely be back again to try another class in the future.

Husband and I have been going to this Theatre for the past few years, it is an excellent evening out. There have been a couple of plays that we didn’t like, but it hasn’t put us off going! Highly recommend, for a wonderful evening!

Haigh Woodland Park is the jewel in Wigan's crown of green spaces - and it's transforming into a one-of-a-kind attraction for families across the north west. Wigan Council and Inspiring healthy lifestyles are spending millions of pounds making this the most beautiful and activity-packed park in the region.
We went to Haigh Hall today and we were surprised how much has been done to make this a great day for the family, there's loads for children to do, our Granddaughter really enjoyed the adventure golf with Grandad and there's a few places to eat or if you want to take your own picnic there's plenty of room to do that, Haigh Hall also has plenty of areas to walk, there's the walled garden and lots more, we will certainly go again and the parking isn't too expensive at £3 for the day, Do go and give it a try it's a Great Day out

Massive wooden floored roller rink with snack bar, cafe, licenced bar and on site skate shop. Large free car park, disabled access and toilet. Full Roller Disco and lights. Hire skates available
Have been nearly every week where possible over the past couple of months, been with all the family, brought my Mum who is in her 50s as she used to come back in the 80s, got my brothers and my sister-in-law involved too as well as my own 3 children. They all love it, advise arriving between 11-12 to allow younger more inexperienced skaters to acclimatise before it starts getting busy at weekends. Thursday day skate quieter for confidence building for adults. Evening sessions just as good with dedicated speed skates for varying experiences/ages. Works great for tiring out the little ones. Cafe prices reasonable, no longer any lockers but for a £1 they store your belongings in a numbered box and supply you with the corresponding chit. Can access any time from the Skate Hire booth. Hire Skates are okay and Inline & Quads are available. However some skates have faulty buckles but will be replaced if possible with a good pair. Staff friendly including Liv in the Skates Unlimited Shop (name taken from till receipt) who helped me buy a pair of quads for my daughter. My Mum & youngest daughter have both received one to one tuition/help when quiet when obviously they are more approachable. As for me it got me back into skating after a 15 year hiatus from playing hockey and competing at Deeside and I'm lovin it.

Real ale and cider bar in Wigan town centre
Great bar in two railway arches so unsurprisingly very handy for both train stations. Departure boards also present to let you know your delayed train allows for more top quality real ales! Recommended.

Serene forest area featuring tree-shaded hiking trails & a stream with picturesque cascades. However please do not drive to visit this site. There is no car park at Fairy Glen and on-street parking is very limited. Local police will penalise people who park illegally/irresponsibly on the surrounding roads. If you are looking for a more suitable family day out in the local area then the scenic Beacon Country Park has ample parking and a wide range of facilities catering for all ages.
It's just a little 20 minute walk, with a small waterfall and pleasant farmland nearby, lots of wild garlic in summer. I live nearby. I wouldn't go out of my way to go there otherwise unless you can combine with something else. There are no facilities or information boards.
