We have walked this in both directions, but prefer to end in Whitstable, a cheeky beer on the beach is a nice reward. The walk its self is nice, it's not too hilly, and has some lovely scenery. It can get busy in parts, lots of dogs and families which is nice to see. Lots of cyclists are on the same path. Recommend it as an easy walk with or without kids, suitable for all.

I have lived in this area for 11 years and worked in Whitstable for 4 years and only the other day did I discover this large, hidden away area! It covers 23 hectares and you can easily spend half a day here or longer. I visited with my daughters age 9 and 12. We spent 2 hours here but could have spent longer. There are grass areas with tracks to explore, various woodland areas, a stream, trees to climb, bridges to cross over and picnic tables plus, of course, fab views! (and more!) Plenty to keep children and adults occupied. There are several access ways into the park via residential streets. We parked near Hunters Close but there are about 5/6 other access routes in. A hidden away gem! Great for dog walkers too.

Having lived opposite Tankerton Slopes for the majority of my life, I can speak from plenty of experience. A great view from the top of the slopes. Parking is free all the way along the road running parallel. Always clean and the grass is usually kept short and neat. Colourful beach huts and benches along the way (both at the top and bottom). Ride your scooter/bike or walk along the promenade. Pubs and restaurants en route. Go take a stroll from the castle to the skate park! (Jojos, the cafe, The Marine, The Royal are en route)

Lovely clean beach which offers great views from the slopes. Make sure to visit on a clear day and you'll see the most amazing sunset. Loads of free parking on Marine Parade and surrounding residential roads.

Located a stone's throw from the harbour and named after an old fishing boat, the Smack Inn captures all the spirit of the Whitstable seaside - even boasting a beach - inspired beer garden complete with colourful beach huts. It's a family-friendly pub promising a warm welcome to all who come aboard. Tucked away behind the high street, its the prefect place to escape the tourist crowds.
Discovered this little gem of a pub whilst out walking. We have walked past on previous trips to Whitstable but it always looked a little neglected so on this occasion we were bowled over by the transformation that we just had to pop in to satisfy our curiosity. It is now a very welcoming place with a lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was delicious and served with a smile. Also impressed with the COVID-19 safety practises and the forms for track and trace. We felt reassured and safe to be eating out at this pub. We sat in the garden which is lovely with a boat deck theme.

Stretching from just south of Whitstable Harbour to neighbouring Seasalter is the privately owned West Beach. The owner is the Whitstable Oyster Fishery Company so I think this beach must be unique in having a sign saying "It is illegal to harvest oysters without permission". It is an old-fashioned beach, no piers, amusements or donkey rides; just shingle divided by wooden groynes. There are weatherboard cottages, fishing boats pulled up on the shingle and beach huts. [If you look at the photographs, I don't know who Ed was but I hope his dreams came true]. It is also good news for those who have four footed companions because the Beach is dog friendly. And for the photographers, the Beach is west facing so ideal for those sunset shots. All in all, it's a perfect place for walking in the fresh air.
We are a specialist pollinator conservation show garden and plant nursery. The garden itself a result of over 30 years of hard work on solid Whitstable clay, transforming the old farm yards, dairy and farm building foundations into a phenomenal display of colour and scent. We have a spectacular diversity of birds, insects, amphibians, flora and fauna. We are a truly wonderful venue for year round gardening visits, with all round colour and interest from an array of annuals, perennials, shrubs, roses and trees. Our peat and pesticide free nursery is unique. We grow only from seed (increasingly our own), or take cuttings. Everything we grow supports insects. It takes time for us to do this so sometimes you may have to wait for our stock. We are also a permanent host to the shrill carder bee, the rarest bee in England. We also have bumbles and mason bees among many others. We sell tea and homemade cakes. We operate tours, lectures and exhibitions. We look forward to welcoming you.
