For a long, long time, Whitley Bay had very few decent boozers to recommend to the beer lover. The last few years have seen a marked turnaround as an eclectic range of independent boozers have opened. Leading the pack has been The Dog and Rabbit - a cracking, traditional micro pub with great home brewed ales and a wide range of guests. You’re always assured of a quality pint and a warm welcome - and great home deliveries during lockdown. Long may it continue.

Had a really lovely couple of drinks here. The beer was kept well (especially given the heat) and the bar staff were exceptionally well-versed and friendly. Really impressed and would come back time after time.

Great addition/starting venue to the growing micro pub trail in Whitley Bay. Plenty of craft ales on tap.

Highly recommended pub in the centre of Whitley Bay. We always pop in here on Sunday afternoons for a couple of pints. The wife and I always find it has a nice atmosphere and is always lovely and warm. It has a great selection of beers and they're amongst the cheapest in the town. The staff are very polite and friendly and other customers always seem happy and friendly. They have lots of large tvs spread throughout the bar to watch live sport but it's never too loud to spoil your trip there.

Originally completed in 1910, ‘The Dome’ became a hub of activity and interest, not only because it was home to many attractions, but because of its stunning architecture and unique design. Almost 18 years after the venue’s final closure, Spanish City reopens following a restoration project that saw historical features brought back to their former glory and the introduction of new leisure facilities including; family-friendly venues, a high-quality steak and seafood restaurant, tearooms, event spaces and a Champagne bar taking residence inside the famous landmark.
We were warmly greeted by a friendly young lady and excellent waitress, she explained about the choice of afternoon tea a traditional or a gentleman’s we went for the traditional I did see the gentleman’s tea and it looked very nice. We had a window seat which fabulous views, our tea arrived promptly followed by the delicious goodies sandwiches, sausage roll, small quiche, scones and an abundance of cakes. It was all absolutely delicious personally I would have loved the quiche and sausage roll warm but that is my preference. The whole place is really nice it’s definitely worth a visit.

The perfect place to enjoy celebrating with family, an intimate date with your loved one or a well-needed catch-up with friends. Our Champagne Bar will provide you with Champagnes, Proseccos, Beers, Lagers, Cocktails, Wines, Spirits and much more. The Champagne Bar enjoys sea views across each floor to ceiling window with contemporary interior design and regular live music really setting the mood.
While people are queuing up in at the bars and spewing out on the streets up the road in Whitley, those with a bit more decorum can come and sit in this lovely atmosphere and be served at the table. Views out to the illuminated lighthouse and a great selection of drinks.

My husband and I are regular visitors to the Fire Station, we live in wallsend where our local Wetherspoons is the Ritz, sadly we find the food at the Ritz to be below standard when it comes to hot food, they once served my husband one of the coldest breakfasts ever and were rather taken back when he asked for a full refund. Since that day we have always used the Fire Station at Whitley bay, where we find the kitchen staff take extra pride in serving their customers food hot enough to enjoy, be it a panini and chips shared or sausage sandwiches we have not been disappointed yet by being served cold food. Today the 22nd of December we opted for a regular breakfast and a sausage sandwich and when our food came to the table my husband declared his breakfast one of the hottest meals he has had in a Wetherspoons pub, the plate was also hot which is how hot food should be served. Well Done The Kitchen Staff Whilst the Fire Station May not be one of the newest Wetherspoons pubs as far as my husband and I are concerned it’s one of the best in the chain for its hot food dishes and it will get our custom even if we have to travel to from Wallsend.
