The Carroll County Arts Council Building has art deco decorations in the theater that have been carefully restored. It is a super place for large local meetings, small theater events and foreign films that are carefully chosen and shown in the theater.
Even better, they host a wide variety of art exhibitions, showing local and regional art chosen by the expert curator of visual arts.
The forward thinking director planned a Peep Show for Easter some years back and now it is nationally known. More than 20,000 people attend.
One of the best shows of the years is the members show, that all members have an opportunity to participate in. The level of talent in Carroll County is incredible.
The art galleries are free and there are charges for some theater events and those that are held when the gallery is rented by others.

We love Baughers. From breakfast, lunch, and dinner or just dessert . Great variety of food that is pleasing to many appetites. One of our favorites is the hot roast Turkey and gravy sandwich or hot roast beef. Love the pies for dessert.

There's a little bit of everything at the Farm Museum. The complex used to be the county Alms House, so there's lots of history there. There are extensive collections of farm implements and displays offering a fascinating look into local agriculture, like the wormseed oil boom. There are live animals to gawk over, plus blacksmiths and others in period dress demonstrating different crafts and giving guided tours. My favorite spot was an 18th century barn that has been moved to the site. If you're not feeling energetic, you can settle in for a picnic and enjoy the lovely surroundings.

We visited Serpent Ridge today with a group of friends and had a wonderful time. It was a little to chilly to sit outside, but there was plenty of room inside. The owners are very friendly and enjoy chatting. They have a new white wine that is a little sweeter than their others and is easy to enjoy, called Serpent Song. We found our favorites, Basilisk and Slither, just as yummy as ever. There's also a new dessert wine called Serpent's Kiss that is white with a taste of chocolate, but not heavy. This is a fun place to spend a couple hours. Bring a picnic or enjoy their cheese, olives, and salami. They also now have some delicious olive oils to taste and buy.

Nestled in Carroll County's rolling countryside, our cozy Tasting Room is a beautiful destination to rest and relax. Join us to taste delicious, Maryland-grown wines by the glass, bottle or flight. We serve a variety of local cheeses, charcuterie, soups and other seasonal fare and you are also welcome to bring your own picnic. Live music sessions featuring talented local artists every Friday evening and Saturday afternoon.
A newer wine tasting area/building that is able to accommodate larger groups of people. It appears somewhat sterile and could use more decoration. There is plenty of parking and a lot of seating, both covered and open area, for relaxing. It is a nice place to relax while drinking wine with friends. It does offer some limited food items, but you can bring your own. Like most wineries I've visited, it could use more restroom facilities. One urinal and one stall seems insufficient for the number of people that frequent this winery.

This is a great way to spend time with nature, whether for recreational or just to volunteer for a variety of reasons. This is clean environment where you will see abundance of wildlife and great nature trails from moderate to difficult.
Also, the outdoor camp for 6th graders across Carroll County gets excellent reviews. I hope this will continue for the years to come.

32,000 Square Feet of Indoor Fun! With Laser Tag, Glow in the Dark Miniature Golf, Bumper Cars, Inflatables, Batting Cages and more, there is something for everyone! Come visit us for a day of fun!
We've enjoyed Larry Sheets Players several times over the years. And while it's no Dave and Busters, it is a safer (in my opinion) environment as it is rarely crowded and easy to keep your eyes on your child(ren). :)
While we've taken our kids when one was younger than 5 years old, and later while one was older than 12 years old, the Larry Sheets setup is optimal for 5-10+ years old. Younger children can enjoy the small soft climb area and moon bounces. Most children between 5-10+ will enjoy moon bounces, glow in the dark golf, bumper cars and laser tag.
There are also batting cages, for those so inclined. Adults and children use them for fun and more often for serious practice.
The food is a scaled down version of what you'll find at Adventure Park USA in New Market (off of Route 70). At Larry Sheets, you can buy pizza, soft pretzels, soda, etc.
This is an ideal local spot for young birthday parties. You can choose your package, based on interests for that age group. We've attended 4 birthday parties at LS and held one for our son when he was younger.
When we did, we were not allowed to bring in our own pizza or chick-fil-a nugget tray. We had to utilize their service for the lunch. It would be nice if we could bring in more than snacks and drinks for parties. :)
We love the casual, small town atmosphere of Larry Sheets. It's perfect for our community.

We spent a few hours with the really friendly folks at the Sunflower Garden Farm. Our two little granddaughters really enjoyed. We cut our own bouquets and they were inexpensive and have lasted a while. Truly an enjoyable afternoon for the whole family!!

I live nearby but don't get to stop in often. The place is near shopping so you can get food and have a picnic. There is a pond there but it has always been over-fished.
