South Africa’s most popular tourist destination offers the urban thrills of Cape Town, its adjacent wine country and an aura of the rich political history of South Africa. The Overberg's perfect whale-watching perches provide excitement of a different nature. The Garden Route's lakes and forests and the Klein Karoo's ostrich-farming towns and vineyards present another take on the Cape. For extra kicks, try bungee jumping or cage-diving among Great Whites.

Having tasted Brampton wine earlier on our trip, we made a beeline here for lunch on our arrival in town. The service is excellent, and very friendly. The food was that good, we came back again for lunch the next day. The highlight was the wine - perfectly chilled sauvignon blanc. And all at astounding value - the best value lunch we had on our whole trip. Majorly recommended!

This is a farm where the wine truly does speak for itself. Made with heart and passion on a boutique estate that prides itself on the art. A small cafe is available with limited trading hours and be sure to visit the website for some accommodation options. This is a yearly stop when we are in The Winelands as it remains my husband’s all time favourite. With good reason - whoever we take always become fans of Camberley wines.

On the water's edge of the international yacht marina on Cape Town's Waterfront, Bascule is the perfect setting to take in the sights and sounds of the busy Waterfront surrounds. There are over 500 whiskies from around the world and an impressive selection of the finest Cape wines on offer.By day Bascule Bar is a lively and vibrant destination, to enjoy a cappuccino or light lunch. By night, the space is transformed into a glamorous Whisky, Wine and Cocktail Bar, where connoisseurs and social butterflies gather in equal measure to enjoy a slice of Cape Town's social life.
Ok, so when one of my friends suggested we have a Friday afternoon drink at a Whisky Bay, me being a gin drinker - I wasn’t to keen. I can honestly say I’m so glad she talked me into going! The Bascule Whisky, Wine and Cocktail Bar is located on the water’s edge of the beautiful Victoria & Alfred Waterfront marina, with relaxing views back over the marina to Table Mountain. If you’re having trouble finding it the bar is at the bottom of the renowned Cape Grace Hotel. Boasting a selection of over 400 whiskies from around the world, along with an exceptional selection of the Cape’s most renowned wines, there truly is something for everyone. We arrived at the bar at about 4.30pm on a Friday evening, everyone is well dressed and the bar has a cool nautical theme, you can sit outside, we chose inside out of the heat. If your knowledge of Whisky is not the best, I would strongly suggest you try the Tastings, a selection of 3 Whisky’s, along with tasting notes so you can look like you know what you are doing. We must have looked a little like armatures lol, so it was so nice to have one of the managers sit down with us and talk us through the tasting (See photo of him below). I should also mention that all the staff were so genuine and friendly, great service. The bar gets a lot busier at night; it really is the place to be seen in Cape Town, lively music and tasty tapas dishes. Sure it's a little upmarket, however well worth the experience, don’t miss it.

Nestled between two gentle hills on the banks of the Botrivier Lagoon, lies the Benguela Cove Wine Estate. Located only one hour from Cape Town , 45 minutes from Cape Town International Airport and just 10km from the historical seaside town of Hermanus, this site enjoys majestic views over the lagoon to the Palmiet mountains, which form the spine of the Kogelberg Biosphere. Perfectly positioned to capture these panoramic views, the 210 Hectares of open land, formed by a large cove on the lagoon, offer just the right amount of seclusion and privacy. Open daily for wine tasting and lunch. Breakfast Sat and Sun, Dinner Thursday - Sunday

Well with two vineyards under our belt ( literally and figuratively) we head up the hill to this venue - there were dozens of like minded people all with wine glasses going the same way. When we entered we found the best organized and welcoming funky vineyard tasting we’ve ever had !! They paired all their wines with a variety of food from red velvet cake to honeycomb - and they were all wonderful experiences - the bottle labels are unique and inviting - a large undercover area with great food available made this our number one visit ( ok we visited 13 of the 18 ) - well done BLack Elephant!!!

We didn’t book ahead and just turned up. We received a great welcome and tasting with Ramsay. The tasting costs R60 pp, to taste 6 of their 11 wines and is informative. If you’re passing on the way to Stellenbosch, definitely worth a visit.

A huge thank you to Leslie for a relaxed and informative tasting, followed by a tour of the underground cellar. Besides the fantastic wine, we enjoyed the wealth of knowledge and clear passion shared by Leslie as he took us through the tasting and tour. Highly recommended!

Rooiberg Wine Cellars is the perfect stop-over to stretch your legs on route to Robertson and the wine region. One thing I've come to love about the Robertson Wine Valley as the friendliness and warmth of the people! Rooiberg did not disappoint! The wine tasting is free and the staff were friendly and welcoming you can taste as many of the wines on offer as you like. I'd definitely recommend the Premier Range Chardonnay and Shiraz as well as their vintage Port. We then had lunch at the restaurant, the service was outstanding, our waitress was friendly and quick. The only downside is the restaurant does not offer a good variety for vegetarians. However, the food was very tasty and the wines are offered at cellar prices, R43 for a BOTTLE of wine! the Red Chair is a fun addition to an awesome establishment!
