Westchester County, a collection of towns that serve as a popular suburb for the bordering New York City, is also the gateway to the Hudson River Valley, an area that promises a plethora of outdoor activities, from sailing to bird-watching to cross country skiing. The County also contains Rye Playland, a popular children's amusement park, historic sites from the American Revolution, the African American Heritage Trail and several famous houses, including Lyndhurst, a Gothic Revival mansion.

How wonderful to be able to say you had a sleepover with the wolves!!!!! It was a truely amazing experience. The ambassador wolves where the hero’s and sitting next to them while we were eating pizza wasa great treat. The campfire was a highlight and so were the s’mores. The young people....well they were young to us....were very courteous and extremely knowledgeable and answered all our questions and made sure we were comfortable. My husband has a prosthetic leg and I have to use a walker but it was not difficult to navigate around. The very very best part was being woken at dawn by the most beautiful chorus. If you love wolves go as soon as you can.

Teatown Lake Reservation's mission is to inspire our community to lifelong environmental stewardship. We realize our mission through environmental education, stewardship of Teatown's preserve, and regional conservation of the Hudson Hills and Highlands. At the center of all our endeavors is teamwork and partnership, because nature conservation and environmental health are possible only when people and their communities work together for the common good. The Teatown team is made of our members, donors, volunteers, board, staff and program participants. Our successes are only possible because of their hard work and dedication to our mission. In addition, we seek collaborations with other organizations and businesses who share our vision.
One of my favorite local places with a nice trail around the lake or more varied trails through the woods.

The Puzzle Parlour is a live-action adventure that is unlike anything you have ever experienced. At our entertainment center in White Plains NY, there are a lot of fun things to do. Come with your friends, family, colleagues or team to tackle the challenges together. You’ll have a total of 60 minutes to UNPLUG from the digital world, INTERACT with your team of adventurers, and ESCAPE from your busy life. The question is, can you escape the room?
We were looking for something that would be fun for my nephew’s 16th birthday. He’s a tough kid to impress. Well, we couldn’t have picked a better venue. My husband, 17 year old son and 16 year old nephew had a BLAST! If you’re looking for something different and out of the ordinary, look no further! We were greeted warmly upon our arrival and only had to wait a few minutes for our room to be ready before we began our “escape”! We used up the entire time getting out...but needed help from the “spirits” along the way (a spooky voice gave us hints when we got frustrated). The Vampire Escape Room was challenging enough for my son (who’s done escape rooms before) and “easy” enough for the adults! The decor and background music really made it feel especially spooky! I knew we had a winner when even my husband said, “That was a lot of fun!” Highly recommend The Puzzle Parlour and can’t wait to find a good excuse to go back again!

A visit to Sunnyside is an enchanted adventure in a romantic landscape and a much-loved riverside home that has been charming visitors for generations.Hear about Washington Irving's storied past and how he came to be America's first internationally famous author, best remembered now for The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and other short stories. His characters, from Brom Bones and Ichabod Crane to the mysterious Headless Horseman and the comic Rip Van Winkle, are icons in American culture. Even Johnny Depp has added to their global renown.A gently curved path leads to gorgeous views of the Hudson River and reveals the allure of Sunnyside's unique design, its intimate setting, its bucolic grounds, and its association with a beloved man of letters. SUNNYSIDE IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED UNTIL MAY 3. Please continue to check this listing or go to our website for updates.
This little fairy tale house is the home of author Washington Irving and his family. The house itself was once a small stone cottage that the author expanded to be his weekend home and then his permanent home after he moved up from New York City. The house and grounds still contain family artifacts and the barn and ice house are still in good shape and can be seen. The house's furnishings are family heirlooms that were bought by the Rockefeller family and brought back to the house. The tour consists of seeing the downstairs social public areas and the upstairs living quarters. It is not the biggest house in the neighborhood but it still is impressive. The views of the Hudson are amazing!

Grand home and grounds of this former Rockefeller estate offer a marvelous collection of modern sculptures, Chinese and European ceramics, fine furnishings and beautifully landscaped terraces and gardens. KYKUIT IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED UNTIL MAY 3. Please continue to check this listing or go to our website for updates.
While the "classic" tour is slightly shorter and more limited than the grand tour, we did not feel at all shortchanged. The classic is over two hours (including the shuttle ride to/from visitor center at Phillipsburg Manor to Kykuit) and includes an extensive amount of the mansion interior as well as a wonderful tour of gardens and grounds, and the coach house. Our guide (Helen?) was amazing in her ability to fascinate us with information on the three resident generations of the Rockefeller family, the architecture and renovations of the main structure as well as the coach house, and the artists who created the amazing sculptures and other artwork throughout the home and grounds. This is a wonderful tour!
