As you would expect, The Mountain State displays rustic charm with dramatic river gorges, large limestone caverns and spectacular mountain views. West Virginia hosts outdoor enthusiasts and family vacationers looking for fresh-air activities and serene mountain atmosphere. If stimulating city holidays are your preference, Charleston combines warm hospitality with a lovely riverside location. A family-friendly destination, you’ll discover children’s theatre, river park recreation and popular Bridge Road for shopping and dining. Smaller towns blend outdoor adventure with quaint village atmospheres. Set between the New, Greenbrier and Bluestone Rivers, Hinton is an historic rail town filled with turn-of-the-century architecture and a host of water activities at its doorstep – rafting, fishing, kayaking and more. In the heart of West Virginia, Summersville is a “Mountain Water Playground.” Its lakeside location encourages outdoor recreation from swimming and boating to scuba diving and rafting. And history buffs can trace Civil War battles throughout the states historic sites and state parks. Hiking or horseback riding along trails through deep hardwood forests is another family favorite, especially when you stop for a picnic along a clear mountain stream.

My girlfriend planned this as a surprise mini trip for our third anniversary. With COVID still amok, we have no desire to be in a public hotel or restaurant so she booked a private two day course. Completely unexpected and absolutely perfect. Jason, Sera and the entire beautiful backyard menagerie welcomed us like family and spent two beautiful days openly sharing knowledge and skill with us. We are already trying to decide what course to take next. If you’re thinking about booking, do it. Immediately.

An eclectic blend of artists offer a divine shopping experience within The Sanctuary created by The Starving Artist Studio. Acrylic paint classes offered to students 6 and up, kids' summer camp, family paint nights, "mommy and me," and paint therapy and paint parties. A great creative experience for all ages.
It’s a great place to shop if you like to find interesting one-of-a-kind items -if they don’t have it,they can make it! Just ask. I also love to attend the painting classes -my house is decorated by me with projects I’ve done at starving artist thank you!

A taste of Soho. Visit our dynamic, contemporary gallery to see regional and national works of art. The Art Center features exhibitions, classes, guided tours, gift shop, special events and facility rentals.
The Art Center changes its art displays on a rotating basis and features local artists, and up and coming artists. But their 3rd floor is open for private event rentals, and I've attended several events in that space, most recently a wedding reception!
