We're a toadily unique gift and coffee store. "If you think you've seen it all, we'll prove you wrong". Current retail goods at the Frog are supplied by 31 independent BC artists and artisans, including 19 from our local region! On top of that we have books from 13 independently published authors, CD's from 20 BC musicians, and purchase from 8 family run independent Canadian suppliers. Of course, that includes (6 Wells authors)(9 local artists, jewellers and clothing manufacturers) and (6 local musicians)
Came here in the summer and met this lovely couple - the owners of the Frog in the Bog, who then they saved us from the soggy rains during ArtsWells with dry socks and warm blankets (we purchased) and interesting conversations and coffee. That is when we learned about their accommodations above the gift shop and across the street in a cozy guesthouse they renovated. Now,6 months later we returned for Victorian Christmas in Barkerville and stayed across the street in the Mountain Thyme Guesthouse.Coffee and hot chocolate is sold in their gift shop and can't say enough about their gem of a guesthouse. Will be coming back says it all. Thanks so much.

Historically, Island Mountain Arts has sought to provide opportunities for the exhibition of professional artists in northern BC, for the benefit of both artists and northern communities. Relative to major urban centres, there have been minimal venues for exhibitions in the north, resulting in limited access to cultural activities for residents of small, isolated, or northern communities. Prior to 1988, Island Mountain Arts occasionally produced professional exhibitions by partnering with venues in Wells such as the Wells-Barkerville School, the Community Hall and the Wells Hotel, to exhibit artwork. With the restoration of the Hill Meat Market building in 1988 and creation of a public gallery, IMA was at last able to provide a secure professional venue for exhibits in Wells.
