Andrew Jackson State Park

Reviewed By Kevin M

It was a perfect day to visit the park. Late January and 64 degrees. The park was not crowded and almost had the place to my own. Walked the wonderful lake and watched just 1 duck in the water. Walked the nature trail too. Enjoyed the attractions. Props to Laura in he museum/office. She was brilliant and so helpful with answering my questions about Indian tribes , Charleston, other SC parks and of course Andrew Jackson.

What a wonderful place!

Museum of the Waxhaws and Andrew Jackson Memorial

Reviewed By James M - Charlotte, North Carolina

This is a hidden gem in th e Charlotte area. A small local museum that shows the history of the region from 1650-1900 featuring items from the Spanish conquistadors and Native American Indians (the Waxhaw Tribe), President Andrew Jackson's birthplace, Civil War info and local interest. This weekend was the annual Pirate Invasion, where they celebrate Jackson's victory over the British at the Battle of New Orleans during the War of 1812, where Jackson enlisted the help of Jean LaFitte the pirate. Great fun for the entire family.

Winding its way through 202 acres of gently rolling forest land, this 6,950-yard championship golf course plays to par 72 and includes greens built to USGA specifications.

Reviewed By Sharon29707 - Fort Mill, South Carolina

Stonebridge offers the service of an exclusive private golf club without the overhead and high price. What a great value! The course is beautifully maintained and the staff provides the best service in the area. We regularly go there weekdays when the players are more experienced and the pace of play is at its best. This is one of our favorite courses to play - anywhere.

Waxhaw Antique Mart

Reviewed By cheryl h - Durham, North Carolina

This has always been my favorite antique shop in Waxhaw because they have collectibles, collectibles, and more collectibles in their 4000 square feet (along with vintage items, furniture, art, and much more). It is the oldest antique shop in Waxhaw.

We are always greeted with big smiles and hellos as soon as we walk in the door. The main aisles are wide and clear and even though they have a lot of stuff in some of the booths it doesn't really give you the feeling of being cluttered. My husband walked out with an antique golf club to add to his collection (he has over 200...does he really need more?).

Jane did a fantastic job of helping me with a back injury I was struggling to get resolved. I had tried a chiropractor twice. And got no relief, but two massages and it was good. Jane offered a therapeutic massage that my medical flex dollars would pay for, so it was a great deal. The room was very comfortable, and I left both times being thoroughly relaxed. I'm not a massage person, but this was a truly good experience.

We were greeted by a very nice person as we walked in the door. Looking around I could tell the place was well organized and well marked making it easy to find the sections you were looking for. The aisles were wide and clear making it a pleasant experience. We walked out with a couple of books. The money goes to the building of a new library for Waxhaw.

Andrew Jackson Birthplace Monument

Reviewed By jlantern3 - Columbia, South Carolina

This is North Carolina's monument dedicated to the birthplace of the 7th president- who knows if its true, but it is a really nice spot. Located on a rural cul-de-sac= it is quite peaceful. a little bench allows one to sit in the area, and interested in presidential history- give it a quick stop, snap some photos.
