This is a go-to park when you need a short hike or ski, a swim, or a view of Lake Mendota. I was there for a ski in December and the trails were well-groomed. The loop isn't extensive, but it's nice to get out. I think it took about 30 minutes to ski. Then we walked to the beach area to take in the lake view. You can see the capital from the beach. In the summer I was here in August for swimming. It's a nice beach and it wasn't too crowded. The water quality was good for Lake Mendota. Don't expect pristine water here. Lake Mendota can be a little "green" but I found it tolerable. Some people may not. Don't forget that you need a park sticker to access state parks.

This is a smallish city park on Lake Mendota. There is a picnic area, a shelter, a swimming area and a boat landing. They also have a small camping area. I was there for a picnic with friends and enjoyed it. There a lot of mature trees that provide plenty of shade.

Stopped here for some wine on a Monday and had the place to ourselves. Great selection of wine and had some food to eat. Very friendly staff. Good dry and sweet wines. Highly recommend this spot.
