Awesome museum that was very informative of Alaska mushing history. Watched a movie and took many pictures. Such a pleasant place to go on a rainy day.

Nancy Lakes Recreation Area

Interconnected system of lakes great for canoeing.

Airlines have "frequent fliers." We're frequent paddlers, and fortunately most people minimize their impact in this area by leaving little or nothing behind: perhaps a boot print in the mud, or a partially burned log in a fire ring. But one thing we see far too often are the scarred birch trees where people have stripped birch bark to start a stupid fire. There's no excuse for it, and suspect most idiots who do this saw it on TV and think it's cool or clever or "bushcraft." It's not. Leave the birch trees alone! Clean up after yourselves. If you can pack it in, you can certainly pack it out. Don't leave trash for others, and if you see trash on the trail, pick it up! Don't just walk passed it and criticize whoever was careless or thoughtless enough to leave it.
