I did this walk in the winter with short sunlight hours and it turned into somewhat of an all day deal. 5.5 miles (each way). I walk fairly fast and it took me 2 hours to get out to the lighthouse and about 2.5 back. The people that were staying out there were great tour guides and even had warm fresh cookies to hand out. Very glad I did the hike - remember to check the tides and time your hike to take advantage of low tide so you can walk on the hardpack (at high tide you'll be walking on top of the drift wood).

The pic you see is North head lighthouse, not cape disappointment, its been restored! Its windy here, but beautiful! Across the cove to the south, is a black and white lighthouse, cape disappointment. Both lighthouses are great! A must see!

So gorgeous. I loved this easy hike. What amazing views. I highly recommend you visit. We had perfect weather, bring a jacket for the wind though.

The grounds are free but don't miss out on the $5 art docent lead tour up into the top of this beautiful lighthouse. Spectacular view of Gray's Harbor, Westport, and the Pacific Ocean.

This beach is the best in the state. It is also called "The Whale Trail" . It is not the actual ocean but the Puget Sound. However, it is my favorite beach. We always see wildlife here and it is very seldom busy. And you can walk for hours or sit on a log just to watch the tide roll in.

Nice place to visit solo or family, various places to have a picnic, great views and nice area to wonder. Recommended.

Beautiful old lighthouse within huge Discovery Park. Beautiful views in every direction. We hiked from the visitors center, and the hike was pretty long, but not difficult if you don't mind elevations at some areas. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any information about the lighthouse, so we got it online. Be sure to take water if you plan to hike as we couldn't find any to buy. There was a water fountain near the lighthouse.

Lovely old lighthouse which was abandoned in 1976 when it was automated. You can walk down to the beach and also camp right nearby. Fort Worden is also interesting - we loved seeing the former officers' housing and a plethora of gorgeous deer grazing everywhere around the Fort. Worth a visit!
