What to do and see in Washington DC, District of Columbia (DC): The Best Things to do Adventurous

October 2, 2021 Oliva Fomby

Washington DC is a hub for American politics and history. Attracting as many school field trips as it does travelers the district offers a peek into the country’s democratic origin. There are plenty of free museums to take advantage of but the real draw here is the memorials and monuments dedicated to great American leaders. Spend some contemplative time at the Reflecting Pool within the National Mall, among the most patriotic places in the country.

Ok folks I have a sleeper for you. Took my daughter to see, "The Magic Duel" tonight as part of her Christmas gifts. This was absoluetly the BEST show per cost I've attended in the last 5 years or so. Absolutely blown away by Mark Phillips and Ryan Phillips comedic genius combined with their underhanded, overhanded, slight of hand magic stylings. These two could stand alone on their one liners, jokes, and snippity, snarkey humor however the magic you witness has a separate if not even stronger punch of its own. Yes, the audience was repeatedly floored and no participants suffered in any way at all. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU SEE THIS FOR YOURSELF!! Located in the basement of the picturesque Mayflower Hotel, Washington DC. Don't say I never hooked you up.................. Dr Hook

This was a lot of fun! We booked the Gallery Heist. 10 or so challenging games, well spaced. The staff was really great, took their time to explain things and get us set up. This spot is really easy to get to by metro or bus. Lots of meter parking nearby. Not physically accessible for people with mobility disabilities - several stairs into the building and up to the rooms.

Make a splash in our Nation’s Capital aboard the DC Ducks, 1942 amphibious transport vehicles used to support and carry troops during World War II. Today they are a great way to see Washington by both land and sea. Winding our way first through the monuments, the Mall, the Capitol and museums of the Smithsonian before splashing into the Potomac and under the flight path at Reagan National Airport. I admit, I was skeptical. It didn't appeal to me. But, in we went, 10 of us, from about 28years old to 71 years old (me). And it was a blast! It's hard to find activities that appeal to families as a whole but this fit the bill. About 50 miniutes of chaotic teamwork (another thing that is unusual for families) and good humor for mistakes. Interestingly, we could also agree when we were stumped and call for help. That's actually a pretty hard thing to learn. The Staff was great, they have a bar for adults and goodies for kids. Note that it is a cashless bar so bring your credit card if you want anything more than ice water. So great time, good for large groups, good for families, good life lessons delivered gently, and great fun for the money.
