Encloses the Allegheny Reservoir.
Located just northeast of Warren, PA, west on US 6, and then north on Highway 59, the Kinzua Dam is a symbol of US engineering and architecture combined, as it regulates the Allegheny River on its way from lower New York State south to Downtown Pittsburgh. This huge dam has many overlooks: below the dam, on the dam, and high up on top of the Allegheny Mountains, part of the eastern US chain of Appalachian Mountains. The scene is so serene, so quiet, and so lovely that any traveler will enjoy the visit. Nearest rooms and good diners/restaurants are nearby in Warren. There is no charge for visitors, and many abundant opportunities for recreation exist like boating, swimming, canoeing, and hiking. Restrooms are attached to the overlook on the top of the dam itself.

Great views, very cool rock formations to explore. I try to get there every year in the fall as a motorcycle ride with friends. Not to far outside of Warren Pa. and you get to see the dam as you are on your way. It's fun to walk around and see the huge rocks and the trees from the ground level. Good place to take kids to spend a few hours and enjoy nature.
