Love this castle. We spent a couple of hours inside taking in the sights and having a picnic. There’s a one way system in the main building but it meant you got to see every part of it. Amazing how clever they were with the buildings We then took a walk down to the hermitage and although you can’t go over to see it at the minute it was a lovely walk down to the river and next time we’re back we’ll take the tour as a unique experience As always with English Heritage the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, making everyone’s visit a fantastic experience

Especially in these times, Cabosse is worth a visit. All of the pastries and most of the chocolates are made on the premises by the owner/proprietor, Louise. She is French trained in both fields and the quality shows. It’s like walking into and French patisserie. At the rear is a delightful area called the “Library “ and you can enjoy all on offer in lovely surroundings. Strict Covid guidelines are maintained at all times. Apart from freshly made Illy coffee there are other superb choices. Our new favourite is Moroccan mint tea with honey, it is gorgeous and so refreshing. Just love this place, treat yourself, you won’t be disappointed.

Another favourite Warlworth land mark St Lawrence Church. The leaning tower always draws my eye since noticing the lean in the 60's. A pleasure to walk round the church and the grounds ad thecviews from the grounds to the castle at the top of the hill.

We walked under the bridge regularly during our stay. It is one of the things that makes this a quaint village. It is cobbled and can be slippy when wet. It's dark walking under at night so a little torch is a good idea.
