Our family group of 6 had a wonderful 1.5 hour ride. None of us had any riding experience but we all picked it up! Amazing ride through nature - there were some really steep parts that were a little nervy but we loved it!!

We offer guided horse riding across our farm with book tracks, open pasture and wonderful views across the Coromandel Peninsula. We have a self-catering cottage for holiday rental that is situated in a private garden setting with rural surroundings.
My daughter and I had not ridden for at least 15 years but both of us have wanted to ride together for a while now. We couldn’t pass up the opportunity to ride together in the Coromandel Peninsula at Rangihau Ranch. We booked our 1 1/2 hour ride the day before and was accommodated straight away. The horses were gorgeous, well mannered and well cared for. Amelia took us out on the most beautiful ride with fabulous views. She was really lovely, making sure we were ok and happy to change pace etc. I would not hesitate to recommend this place - it was simply perfect.

Wairakau Horse Treks was a great experience. It was around 15 minutes drive from town and out in the country. It was quiet and a perfect place for a beginner to get started. Since my sister and I had no experience, we first learned the basics i.e brushing the horse, getting on the horse, learning to steer, slow down, and go faster. Once we had gotten used to sitting on the horses, which by the way were very calm ones, a little stubborn like me, we went straight into the walk over the stream to a paddock with some exercises. The lady who was taking us had her eyes on us the whole time. She took us for a walk down the gravel path, which one horse was a bit stubborn about going on, and since that was happing a lot with the horse, she gave me some tips to get him going. When we were back we even learned how to trot and of course, how to get off. This was a great experience for me and my sister, who have been begging to go horse riding for ages. The lady was so kind and if you want to kick start your kids new hobby, I certainly recommend coming here because now I won’t let up until mum lets me go to riding lessons.???? Certainly five star (although I wanted to put 10/5 star????????) and I recommend this to anyone with kids on your holiday. Thank you so much Shelley for this amazing time. Arie Riley????????

Our Native Bush, Rive and Forest treks are one of a kind! Not only will you be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery but hear a mix of local Maori knowledge, myths and legends of Ngati Tuwharetoa that have been past down from generation to generation.
The 6 year old loved it and was not scared at all, in great hands with John’s horse leading hers, and even the 13yo smiled once or twice! Great surroundings, combination of open countryside, enchanted forest, young and mature pine forests, stony riverbed, and actual river wading. Don’t often get that variety! Great, well-behaved horses expertly suited to each rider by the fantastic friendly staff who clearly care about the horses and customers. Excellent health and safety and Covid protocols followed, nice new helmets, impressive iPad registration system. Easily the best trek we’ve done. As Sammii said - worth the drive from Taupo!

Absolutely incredible, I went on both the 2 hour treks yesterday and they were so accommodating to my disabilities. The horses were well matched to the rider experiences and they gave so many opportunities to ride faster for those who wanted to and those who didn't could keep going at their own pace. The trails and views were breathtaking and it was probably the most fun I've ever had on a trek. The staff are both knowledgeable and so friendly, I will be going back whenever I possibly can.

Magic Mountain offers rides from 1-3 hours. See 3 harbours and 4 volcanoes. Ride through fields with sheep and cattle grazing. Ride to Bridal Veil falls (55m high). Look out over the Tasman sea. See Mt Karioi, Pirongia Ruapehu and Taranaki on a clear day. At 300m above sea level it is the highest farm in the district. A fantastic way to see New Zealands rural countryside.Bookings essential.

Our family of three had an amazing horse trek over the hinterland coast line of Raglan, riding through paddocks and forests, stopping to take in the beautiful views, guided by a passionate and knowledgeable Petra. We’ve done a few horse rides before ( we are beginners though ) but this was the most enjoyable by far. The horses were gentle and Petra matched us perfectly to our horses. We thoroughly recommend it and can’t wait to come back. Thank you Petra for a wonderful family experience! I’ve just read the previous two reviews on this business and am shocked - they couldn’t be further from the truth. Petra knows her horses and we found her to be kind, helpful, engaging and patient.
