The people at the kayak business were extremely friendly. The kayaks are in good shape and have nice back rests. They take you up the river depending on the tree options you can choose from. The river was shallow, with lots of lilies on it....MoreHi, Thank you very much for sharing your experience and for your nice evaluation. You must come to this "balcony" if you are in the area. The view is said to be one of the best in Belgium and even on the rainy day we went it was indeed stunning. The village of Frahan is on a curve of the Semois river and looks picture perfect. Plenty of parking here too.

Le Tombeau du Géant (or the Giant's tomb) is located nearby the city of Bouillon. It's a classified landmark in Walloon. You can do hikes or walks in the surroundings. Because it's a bit hidden, you have to look for it. But once you find it, it's worth it!
I would like to join some photo's to this landmark, but I am not able to.

One of the most impressive remains of feudalism in Europe and the oldest feudal vestige in Belgium. Its origins go back to the 8th century. It is a key account for the medieval architecture and is famous for the 1st crusade, lead by Godfrey of Bouillon. The Castle was used for military purposes until 1830. From the top of the main tower, you can admire a wonderful view on the Semois river and its meanders. Included in the visit : falconry show and permanent didactic exhibition. Also included : permanent exhibition "Scriptura", the history of writing from the Middel Ages until the XXst century.
Took our 7 year old grand daughter to explore this excellent chateau/castle. With its fine views of the surrounding countryside and small passageways. More details on some of the rooms would have been helpful, but the guide book fills in missing detail. One is left to explore on ones own so own pace dictates the length of the visit

A great tower with stunning views of the Belgian Ardennes. It has 3 floors, but the surrounding is very quiet. There are barely any tourists there, but still a great watchtower.

Accidentally discovered this place, and a fine discovery it was! They have a vast variety of mainly owls and other birds of prey. The show lasts about and hour and six (I think) different species were introduced! Each species is introduced in French and Flemish, and given its current size you get more interaction with the host and the animals! We really enjoyed the show! Besides the birds of prey, they have a nice area with high weeds for the insect lovers, there are some farm animals and there's also a beekeeping show! They sell their own honey and I highly recommend the honey mustard! Best discovery of my Ardennes break!!!!

Maginot Line Tours / Tuckertours are sightseeing tours arranged with my visitors typically weeks or months in advance. My visitors come from all around the English speaking world (USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, UK). In general they come to Sedan,(France) specifically for my tour as part of their ‘European tour’. The tours last a complete day and are usually based on the German attack at Sedan in May 1940 and the French Maginot Line defences in the area. The tour includes a private underground visit of a Maginot Line ouvrage( Fort). We visit the battlefield that is the area around Sedan, in the conflicts of 1640 (leading to Sedan being annexed by France), the 1870 Franco-Prussian War (the battle of Sedan was militarily the defining battle in the Franco-Prussian War), WWI (the German attack through Sedan in 1914 and in 1918 the furthest point of advance reached by the US Army), and of course the 1940 Blitzkrieg attack at Sedan through the Ardennes, and the French Maginot Line defenses in the area). We see and visit sites of Historical (military) and Heritage interest. From the medieval castle at Sedan, the old town of Sedan, fortified churches, the Maginot Line and the beautiful Ardennes countryside. All of this in the area where these battles took place. Usually the tour is based on the events in 1940, however we take in elements from the previous battles (1870 and WWI) because it is all in the same area, and the preceding battles help explain in part what happened here in 1940. Occasionally I do day tours based only on the 1870 Franco-Prussian battle at Sedan. My visitors are usually interested in military history, quite frequently they are very knowledgeable on such matters. Occasionally I have groups of serving military in larger groups coming to see the area as part of their military training. Consequently I am amending the Trip Advisor categories for my listing to be as follows: Sightseeing Tours: Evidently this is the general description of what I do. Historical and Heritage Tours: The tours are based on the historical (military) events that took place here. Private Tours: The tours are by prior arrangement and are private. Battlefields: The tours take place over the area around Sedan that was a battlefield in 1870, WWI and WWII.
Spent a really interesting couple of days with Richard of Tucker Tours, looking at Maginot Line installations and other fortifications around the Ardennes. To be honest, military history is my husband's thing and I was only along for the ride, but it turned out to...MoreThanks for the comment, it's really appreciated. I'm very pleased that you enjoyed the tour. And yes, I hope you make it back over here again. Cheers, Richard

The same architect built both Place Ducale and the Paris Place des Vosges.
We enjoyed discovering the similar square organisation, the same brick & stone houses.
The square size is huge. How beautiful!
In July, the municipality had organized a temporary recreational area in the middle of Place Ducale. This was fun. We were lucky to visit the city on a sunny and hot day.
There are a lot of good restaurants and bars around.
Before diving the next day in a Belgian lake nearby, this proved a relaxing stopover.
