Come and discover the wine estate Domaine du Clos de l'Epinay in the city of Vouvray, near Tours and the Loire river. The vines cover 20 hectares in the best soils of the Vouvray A.C. You'll discover the two sides of the estate: The 18th century property and the modern cellar built in 2008. The tasting room is opened during all the year for free.

Found this winery doing research for our trip. Then while visiting anothery winery (Cave Duhard.... also woth a stop) they recommended Domaine Huet which reinforced our desire to stop. The gentelman who toured us through the facility (which like so many wineries in the area are in caves) was patient with our questions and very intersting and informative. As for the wines (Vouveray’s).... amazing. So good we have found a distributer in our area that carries Domaine Huet varietals. Make this a stop if you are touring the Loire Valley!

Representing 35 producers, this is a wonderful place to learn about this lovely white wine. The tasting in the modern tasting room is unhurried and informative, but be sure to take the underground cellar tour first (tours are given in English at designated times, so check before you go). Your guide explains how sparkling Vouvray is made and walks you through a section of the vast, and I mean vast, network of tunnels where the wine is stored at a perfectly cool temperature (we learned that the caves were actually carved out when the tuffeau stone was mined for construction). Awesome! The tour fee is nominal, the wines are very reasonably priced, and our knowledgeable guide made us feel like welcome guests. To get there, you'll drive through some narrow village streets, but there's plenty of parking once you reach the cave.

During the summer period, the shop of the Castle Moncontour welcomes you every day of the week, from Monday till Sunday as well as the holidays, to make taste you its better wines. You can also visit the museum of the vineyard for 5€ and walk in the streets of Vouvray to discover a magnificent view on the Castle.
