The present premises of the cathedral was built around 1913 – 1914 to replace the old one, dating back to XVIII and consecrated in honour of the Blessed Virgin on 1 April 1732 by Krasovsky priest. In 1814, the cathedral was enlarged, and choirs for singing were added. In 1826, a new 4-tiered iconostasis was created for the temple and in 1861 a 18-meter bell tower was added to the temple, along with more premises for clergy. In 1865, supported by noble Grokholsky family, the first in town parish school was built by the Nativity Cathedral. The church at that time consisted of 1,610 parishioners and possessed own estate and land. With time, the Cathedral of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin was no longer able to meet the needs of the expanded parish, so in the beginning of XX century it was decided to built new larger stone Cathedral to replace the old one.

The fortification building was built in the 30 years. It is on the old (Romanian-Soviet) border. When the so-called Stalin line took place, a terrible battle was played. In the place of the overthrow of the German troops, the Red Army made desperate resistance. Covering its forced retreat: dots and zoty, as well as the remains of 130 artillery division (RSKK).

I visited the Vinnytsia water tower near its closing time on Friday night in December. The staff were very friendly about letting me take a quick look even though I arrived late. The museum is a tribute to war veterans of various conflicts and it has a lot of interesting artifacts to bring the stories to life. Be ready for stairs though! Even if you can only see the outside, this is a piece of Vinnytsia’s history that is visually striking and worth your time.

Multimedia Fountain Roshen (Vinnytsia Fountain “Roshen”)- was built on the river Southern Buh in Vinnytsia City near Festivalny Isle (Kempa Isle). This is the only one multimedia fountain in Ukraine and the largest floating fountain in Europe. Fountain runs from early April to late October. The project design and development was performed by Emotion Media Factory, a Germany-based company responsible for the dancing fountains in Chiang Mai Night Safari Park (Thailand) and Kangwon Land (South Korea) as well as the multimedia shows for AIDA Cruises. The show was created by Ralph Douw, the CEO of the company. The fountain was officially inaugurated on 4 September 2011 along with the official opening ceremony of Roshen Quay.
I was not sure what to expect for a fountain show, but it blew me away. great music and lights, colour, projector, very well done. there are 2 programs, 30 minutes each. very worthwhile to stop and view. No cost.
