Rima and Aelita are an absolutely fantastic information resource about the Jewish history in Vilnius and elsewhere in Lithuania. Lithuanian and in particular Vilnius History is complicated! So you cannot even expect a street name to be consistant. Russian, Polish, Soviet and Lithuanian names for the same street are not necessarily the same - this applies to family names, houses, businesses, and every aspect of life in Lithuania. These people know where to find what you are researching, and can cross the language barriers for you - my russian is non-existant ! We went in looking for my wife's Gt Grandfather - the response was 'who was he' yes I know about him - he lived........ The wife and I were amazed !

Vilnius Pilgrim Center helps pilgrims discover Vilnius as the City of Divine Mercy and this enables them to have a unique pilgrimage experience.
I have been to Vilnius three times in the past two years. I keep getting pulled back by my interest in Divine Mercy and Our Lady of the Gates of Dawn devotions as well as the Jewish history. I have come to love the city in many ways. I first came across the Pilgrim Centre as I was planning my first visit. I wrote to them and received a quick response, along with arrangements they had made for me to stay in a convent guest room. Since then, I have come to rely on Inesa, the head administrator, as my main pilgrimage resource in Vilnius. She and her staff are friendly, responsive and knowledgeable. If one is in Vilnius as a pilgrim I strongly suggest forming a relationship with the centre.

Created in 1997, Uzupis was born following the gathering of different artists. It's an independent republic in the heart of Vilnius. The goal was to create a place where people can meet in good spirits and discuss, create and express themselves freely. Feel free to visit the curiosity room, if you want to take advantage of many information, advice but also exhibitions. You will always be welcome !
The information center does not begin to describe the place. It is more of an artsy place (plenty of cards, art prints, magnets, other small-scaled souvenirs by local makers and artists available) on the bank of Vilnele river. The whole place has a great vibe, which includes broken pianos, sculptures, street art, and other hippie attributes outside the beautifully decorated red doors of the center. And friendly staff will make the most of your visit there.
