Looking for a new wine region and stumbled upon Sir Paz. Intended on having a tasting but ended up staying a few hours as we tasted the impressive wines over an excellent meal. A wonderfully enthusiastic and knowledgeable host tended to our needs. Would highly recommend a visit even if you just want a spectacular view over the valley.

We had a great time picking blueberries, strawberries and some veggies at the farm. Unfortunately at the time we were there the raspberries and blackberries were not ready to pick, so multiple visits at particular times of year would be good. We found their seasonal update pretty accurate. One thing that we found a little surprising was that we were each charged $5 to go and pick. This made sense later, as the charge per kg everything was very reasonable and of course there’s a little bit of tasting as you go. While they’re not organic, they apparently don’t use sprays and are aiming to be certified one day. One other thing to mention is that the toilet facilities are fairly rustic - not something that bothered us but might for some visitors If you’re looking for a picking experience on a farm in the Yarra Valley this is well worth the trip.

CherryHill Orchards is a 3rd generation family orchard with a passion for growing the world’s greatest cherries. Our story began in 1940 when our grandfather, George Riseborough, planted his first cherry trees in Victoria’s fertile Yarra Valley. Over 75 years later, our family still proudly carries on this cherry growing tradition with diligence and passion to produce Australia’s finest cherries. Today, their Yarra Valley orchard has grown to be one of Australia’s most loved cherry-picking destinations. With over 13,000 cherry trees, a cherry café serving their famous cherry ice-cream, picnic facilities and breathtaking views, it’s the perfect day trip for family, friends and larger groups. CherryHill Orchards is conveniently located just one hour’s drive from Melbourne in the beautiful facilities and multi-lingual staff make them the orchard of choice for international visitors.
Not many outings for several hours of enjoyment and only $35 for family. We arrived and met up with another family of friends, popped on the bus and went on the short drive around the orchard to the current pick site. There were heaps of cherries, easy to pick even for short kids, absolutely massive, meaty and tasty. Delicious. All you can eat (whilst on-site) is included in the entry fee. It was a little awkward carrying around our picnic blanket and esky whilst picking, so instead left them with staff at bus pickup/dropoff spot in orchard. Then went back to the main area for a picnic (we took a blanket, but there were quite a few picnic tables too). There was also three food trucks offering 1) pizza ($10-12), 2) Caribbean food like jerk chicken (around $14) and hot chips ($5) and 3) a vietnamese van with Bahn Mi ($8.50), spring rolls (6 for $10), rice paper rolls etc. The cherry farm cafe also sold three types of sorbet/icecream ($5) and cherry drinks etc. Being a weekend, there was also live music - a guy and his guitar - very pleasant, added to atmosphere. Nice views.... A tractor for kids to climb on, and some lawn games... Face painting was free. There were lots of portable toilets that seemed pretty clean and had hand-wash facilities. Parking was good - large area and staffed. Overall, we stayed around 3 hours, but it would have been less without another family to chat to and our kids to play with.
