Take a walk through downtown Melbourne and learn of an era in which there was much more on offer at the local confectionery store than just lollies and soft drinks. Explore Melbourne’s underworld c.1870’s to 1930’s, an era in which Melbourne’s downtown slum district, ‘Little Lon’, was mostly run by women. Learn about the battle for supremacy, madams who stood their ground against well-known gangsters such as Squizzy Taylor, and an all-female crime syndicate known as ‘The Combine’. Stop outside buildings which were once brothels and sly grog shops (speak easies), and hear the stories of what occurred within their walls and on the streets and laneways around them. Shootings, bombings, bashings, brothels, robberies, opium, cocaine and sly grog (speak easies). The tour is designed and delivered by writer and historian, Michael Shelford.

It's one thing to go to an amazing place of natural beauty and Wilson's Prom NP certainly packs a punch and ticks that box with great hiking trails, beautiful vistas, green valleys, sandy and secluded beaches, and lots of wildlife. But to go there with a tour that manages to squeeze all that in one day without making you feel exhausted so you can truly appreciate your visit takes a real expert 9adn that's where Hike and Seek tick all the boxes!). Special thanks to the tour guide Michael, who could answer any queries and engaged with all participants to make us feel part of the team. It is a long day (and more so for the tour guides) as the drive to Wilson's Prom is almost 3 hours each way from Melbourne so make sure you have a book with you (you will have your own light and air condition vent in the minibus!) or download earlier some good podcasts to watch (you will travel through places with no or poor internet access so be prepared).

I can’t recommend this tour enough! Vine Trekker was such a well organised tour full of awesome wineries that all show cased something different about the Yarra Valley, whether that was a stand out Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, historical building or stunning views. Our guide, Paul, was especially memorable, he went above and beyond many times during the day and his knowledge and energy made the day something I’ll never forget. I’ll definitely be telling everyone I know about this tour, to the point where they’ll probably tell me to be quiet.. Again, thanks for the best day! -Julia (Wine enthusiast, WA)

We had a terrific day down the east coast of Wilsons promontory. Leaving from Pt Welshpool in the morning mist, the sun came out on and off and we had a varied appreciation of this spectacular coast with its sandy beaches, magnificent rocks and majestic hills. The crew was friendly and particularly well organised. WE enjoyed multiple coffees and biscuits, morning and afternoon tea. The lunch was very well presented in individual little boxes with bamboo cutlery , plentiful and tasty. It as great having a warm potato as we admired the scenery on the top deck . The 2 hours stopover in Refuge cove gave us the opportunity for a walk, Highlights were the numerous seals sunning themselves and jumping off into the sea from seal rock and the dolphins following the boat on 2 different occasions..

Stunning sunset & evening backdrop of Melbourne city scape. Lucky to have a calm windless evening, fish & chips dinner was light, but satisfying. 2.5 hours was a bit too long, and you do get a bit wet, but generally a good experience! Thanks
