We had a wonderful tour of St Petersburg with Marina. She was a wonderful guide: friendly, cheerful and hugely knowledgable. She collected us promptly at our hotel and we spent a full day discovering the key sights of the city – a perfect introduction that we could never have managed alone. She told us a huge amount about the city, its history and its place in the wider story of Russia. The tour was built around us and what we wanted to do, and Marina and the excellent driver helped make sure we got back a little early as we were heading out for the evening. A magical day!

Veliky Novgorod, also known as Novgorod the Great, or just Novgorod, is one of the most important historic cities in Russia, UNESCO recognised Novgorod as a World Heritage Site in 1992 . At its peak during the 14th century, the city was the capital of Novgorod Republic and one of Europe's largest cities and a major Baltics to Byzantium station on the trade route from the Varangians to the Greeks. City was not destroyed by nazis in a period of WW2, as well as never been captured by Tatar hordes. So, its ancient beauty is almost untouched! We invite you to spend a day deep in real Russia, visit the Kremlin, orthodox churches and get closer to our history.
Inclusions: Professional art historian guide, Lunch, Hotel pickup and drop-off, Air-conditioned vehicle
Exclusions: Gratuities

We booked for the Swan Lake ballet on 25 December 2019, with travel date on 24 May 2020, through U Visit Russia. . Due to the Covit19 pandemic we were unable to visit Russia nor attend the ballet. Two tickets were purchased for US$465.50. U Visit Russia was advised of not being able to attend and agreed to pay a full refund but there would be a delay due to the number of cancellations. After some time no refund was forthcoming and U Visit Russia was again contacted by email and we were advised that due to the volume of cancellations the refund would be credited to our credit card within 9 weeks. Nothing and again they were contacted by email but no response was ever received. No refund was ever received. Nothing!! The lesson is to beware of ever dealing with this company.

We should have done this fantastic tour at the beginning of our stay in Saint Petersburg. The fortress is the oldest architectural ensemble of the city and it was really exciting to see these authentic fortifications. We also learned a great deal about the Romanovs, the city history and life in imperial Russia.
Culture doesn’t end inside city lines. Venture out a little further to nearby locales and gain an even greater understanding of true Russian history and architecture during your one day trip to the ancient capital of Russia (directly from St Petersburg ; tour duration is 10 hours) Novgorod the Great is one of the oldest cities in northwestern Russia. Unlike St. Petersburg, it features traditional Russian architecture, its churches are white and crowned with those famous onion-shaped domes, which will perfectly match your expectations of what old Russian towns are all about. All must see attractions are included: Millennium Russia Monument, XII century old Sophia Cathedral , Wooden Architecture museum to mention few as well as several optional visits for art lovers ( Icon Painting Museum, Faceted Chamber with jewelry exhibit and the church with Theophanous the Greek’s murals). So if you are intrigued by old Russia, this tour is definitely for you!
Inclusions: Private transportation, hotel pick up and drop off , service of the local Novgorodian guide
Exclusions: Entrance fees to the Museum of Icon Painting, Faceted Chamber and The Church of Transfiguration , Gratuities, Lunch
We booked a private two day tour of St. Petersburg with Dancing Bears Tours for June 2020. Julia, the owner, handled the booking and customized the tour so that we could see every site we wanted to visit. It was going to be considerably less expensive than the tours offered by our cruise ship, and was going to be much more thorough and efficient than traveling around St. Petersburg with 30 other people. Unfortunately Covid 19 got in the way. We had to cancel trip, and our tour of St. Petersburg. At our request, Julia very graciously returned our full deposit. We were so impressed at how willing she was to work with us to design exactly the tour that we wanted, and were even more impressed that she was willing to return our deposit. We will definitely re-book with Dancing Bears when we can finally travel to St. Petersburg.
