Vallby Open Air Museum is open every day of the year. Here you can experience and learn about the cultural history of native breeds and plants, buildings and life in former times.
Typical museum in Sweden: buildings from the past, collected at different places in the region, and displayed on one site. There are also farm animals, and people inside the old buildings, explaining how it used to be, in the old times. Interesting for a family...MoreHello Ana L, Thank you so much for your nice comments. 25 historical wooden sail boats. Flag ship is a copy of a 12th century cog; a true pirate ship, 29 x 8 meters...
Great day out and worth the 100kr entrance as we all got to practice our archery, carve out our own runes..with real implements and real stones...no H &S worries here!, and the kids got to knock a nail into a Viking Thor's hammer necklace on the forge... Pulling the bellows, hitting it out on the anvil etc...a real souvenir of their holiday in Sweden! Interesting collection of boats and great longhouse up the hill( excellent home made ice cream too...where else would you get liquorice and saffron flavour ice cream?)

Experience Sweden's first action Water Park! Your heart beats faster as you take the plunge. The rush in your stomach matches your pulse. The blood in your veines flows as fast as the water in the steepest slide you've ever ridden. Kokpunkten is Sweden's first action waterpark: A unique experience, with its specially designed attractions spread over eight floors.
We took our kids to this attraction essentially to have fun. And fun was what we had in abundance! There are several different slides, but they all come with height/weight restrictions that seemed to be self-policed a little bit for the large part. There was...MoreHi. Thank's for rating us! The height/weight restrictions are recommendations from the waterslide supplier. It's up to you as an adult to decide if your kids are able to ride them or not. Welcome back!

We love this place. We have visited it several times.
The interesting baroque palace in the beautiful location!
Stromsholm in its present form was built in the mid 16th century.
It is interesting to see the castle inside and outside!
The palace is situated on a small island in the Kolbäcksån river, about 25km west of Västerås city
and 130km west of Stockholm.
There is the beautiful park around the palace, oak woods and meadows, pastures. It really is a great place for a relaxation.
If you are a lover of horses, you will be able to get a bonus if you will visit this place )))! There is the famous Swedish National Equestrian Centre. Near the palace is the National Equestrian Arena. During June every year, Strömsholm hosts the annual, classical summer event at the arena, ”Strömsholmstävlingen”.
Stromsholm is currently owned by the state and is open in summer.
There is the guided tour (45 min) at 13:00 in Swedish and 15:00 in English. It is included in the entrance fee.
The entrance fee is 100 kr (around 10 euro) for adult.
Opening hours:
16–31 May: Saturday–Sunday 12.00–16.00
June: Daily 12.00–16.00
July: Daily 12.00–17.00
August: Daily 12.00–16.00.
You can eat there. The palace cafe, is open same dates and opening hours as the palace.

We have been to many zoo's, animal parks and farms around the world, and this one ranks down towards the bottom.
The place has a lot of potential. But potential needs to be realized. Tired animals, hiding.
Food in restaurant below average. Unorganized.
Again. I stress this place has potential, and it may have been better at one time. But changes are needed.

Located at the Västra Ringvägen, near the domkyrkan, this park is a nice area to relax with gazebos and pavilions hidden in the forest. It was originally created in the 1860's as a park to educate children about the fauna and flora and also important events and people of Sweden. The entry is free of charge.

The purpose of the museum is to extend our understanding of the rich diversity of Västmanland's cultural heritage, to communicate with people and to stimulate public opinion, increase people's insights into our history and to enrich our perspective on life today and in the future. At Karlsgatan 2 in Västerås the county museum has its offices, archive, library and exhibition galleries.
It's a typical museum of different kinds of arts and in my taste it's a bit to modern. The front of house feels a bit messy and you're not quite sure where the Exhibitions are exactly or where to start.

You don't come here to see anything in particular, but it is lovely just walking through the small, cobbled streets flanked by small red houses. Takes about half an hour to see, but well worth going to Vasteras just for this. We visited in high summer but the place was virtually deserted.
