What to do and see in Vancouver, Canada: The Best Breweries

August 5, 2021 Kelli Reichel

Vancouver was founded as “Gastown” by an Englishman with a penchant for beer and storytelling. Today Gastown is a historic section of the Canadian metropolis, and the lively pubs still reflect the area’s former status as a sort of community drinking center. The city’s forests, grand parks, and impressive suspension bridge beckon travelers to explore them, as do the city’s shops and museums. Relive the glory of the 2010 Winter Games with visits to Olympic venues and the marvelous Olympic Cauldron.

As a big fan of their London Fog, I wanted to visit the brewery in person. It was a bit of a drive to get there, and it's kind of on it's own with no other breweries in the area that I am aware of. It was worth the trip though as there tasting room is spacious and comfortable (complete with dart board) and there beer is great!

A super sampling of one of Vancouver’s best craft beer AND wineries. Food looked very good. We were in for a one and done pint/glass so we did not sample the food. Staff were great, courteous and provided a historical account of the building. First incarnation was a World War II airplane propeller plant. Check it out.

Went for lunch with a couple of fellow workers to this hidden away brew pub. Actually lots of people for a Wednesday mid-day. Ordered a chicken caesar wrap, and waffle fries. The wrap was one of the best I have ever had, and I've had a lot of wraps. A number of other food choices that also looked very good at adjoining tables (separated by clear plexiglass. Prices were good. Didn't have beer, but huge choices for beer lovers. Great lunch or snack spot!

I had a chance to hit up a few breweries to check out the Vancouver craft scene and Main st brewing had the best beer of the day. The naked fox ipa was so good, I’ve been thinking about it since the trip. Not to mention all of the other options. I didn’t see the cask ales until after I ordered my fight so I will have to come back some time to get those! What a cool spot.
