Val Gardena

The beautiful breathtaking scenery, the endless slopes ( one La Longia 10.5 km long) and the lovely town makes this place the Mecca for ski lovers. No matter how many times you will be there , just the thought of it makes your body crave with expectation. If I will ever know that there is only one ski vacation left in my life- Val Gardena will be the place.

Seceda

Reviewed By Anuj_Mithani - Mumbai, India

Armed with our 3 day Gardena cards (great value if you will use multiple lifts), we dedicated the better part of a day for this hike while based in Ortisei. We were rewarded with one of our most memorable walking/hiking experiences in the Val Gardena. The broad route went like this : the Seceda lift up from Ortisei, loop around Pieralongia, return to St Christina via Col Raiser and the bus (free, we had complementary mobility passes from our hotel) back to Ortisei. As we arrived at the Seceda summit station, we first walked in the direction of Rifugio Troier– the views of the mountain ridge (Fermeda) and the valley below were terrific. We then headed onwards to Pieralongia, and enjoyed the glorious setting with the famous twin rock spires and the company of friendly donkeys grazing nearby! We then passed around Lech da Iman and headed to Rifugio Firenze. After a sort rest and refreshment break, we continued to the Baita Odles (many farm animals on site) and then took the Col Raiser lift back to St Christina after a brief rest at the Col Raiser station/restaurant. Our most memorable day in the Dolomites!

Passo Sella

Reviewed By A6996SEstevem - Miami, United States

Be sure to visit the Passo Sella for beautiful access to the outstandingly scenic Naturonda hike and the excellent Comici Hut. The Passo Sella is a short drive up a steep, twisting, and narrow mountain road from the village of Selva di Val Gardena in the Dolomites of Italy. From the top of the Pass, which sits at roughly 2,200 meters, inviting hikes radiate in different directions. A perennial favorite hike is the Naturonda that begins a short walk from the pass and ends at the not-to-be-missed Comici Hut, which may be the nicest rifugio, or mountain restaurant, in the Dolomites. The Comici hut offers delicious food and friendly service. If nature calls, its bathroom will astonish you. The Naturonda is a relatively easy loop hike that takes about two-hours to complete. A narrower and well-marked trail that begins in a maze-like rock garden takes you to the Comici Hut while a wider, path returns you to the parking lot at the Pass and your car. Though the Naturonda may lack difficulty and length for the serious hiker, it is an extraordinarily beautiful hike with spectacular, high alpine scenery. For the more adventurous, there are ways to prolong the pleasure of being in this magical area by extending the hike. Buon Viaggio.

Escursione tutt’intorno a Sassopiatto e Sassolungo

Reviewed By vengosht

We did this hike with 2 teenage boys (10 and 14) and it is exceptionally beautiful! it is quite easy if you are a moderately fit hiker (even if you are not so fit actually). Because we did this with the boys we hiked from Sella pass to Refugio Sasso Piatto, left out stuff, climbed Sasso Piato, stayed overnight and hiked the rest of the way the second day. I will say if you are not very fit, skip the mountain climb, it is not an easy hike. The tour around the sasso piato and lungo is beautiful and quite easy though.

Sassolungo

Reviewed By romans153 - Canton of Thurgau, Switzerland

Starting at the Passo Sella Hotel you can either go toward Refugio Comici and then around north to west Sassoluongo to Langkofelhütte and from there up the pass to Demez Hütte in about 5 to 5.5 hours (up about 1000 m = 3000 ft total height of hike) through a beautiful countryside, always very close to the Sassolungo massiv. From there either down with the cable car or hike down, with is steep and will add another hours. The same hike can be done in the opposite direction.
