Our site was the home of L.M. Montgomery, Canadian author best know for "Anne of Green Gables".She lived in North Uxbridge for 15 years from 1911 to 1926 and wrote half of her books here including a poetry book "The Watchmen". Come take a tour of both sites, watch our video or take in one of our many special events which include theatre all summer and luncheon teas. You will love your visit.
We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to the Leaskdale home of Lucy Maud Montgomery (famed author of Anne of Green Gables) and the nearby church where Lucy's husband, a Presbyterian minister, preached. Our guided tour was very informative/interesting and the afternoon tea with Raspberry Cordial and scones was delicious. Well worth a visit!

We went on an unseasonably hot fall day at the end of September, so I’d really recommend to go earlier in the morning if you want to stay cool & comfy. Otherwise for an affordable $6/person+HST (kids 3 & under are free), you get to walk their sprawling grounds, pick grape tomatoes, walk through their sunflower trail & explore their maze of sunflowers (always a surprise how tall the sunflowers are & how gigantic their leaves! Also, nice to see the bees lazily drinking nectar from sunflowers), go to their barn & petting zoo containing goats, mini horse, chickens & hens, pigs and a massive playground area. And of course there is the pumpkin patch wherein you can also pick gourds and butternut squash (when available, you can ask to use one of their wagons to haul your load back to your car). And don’t forget to check out their expansive, well-decorates farmers market area where you can buy in-house and in-season fruits & veggies, Kawartha ice cream, different kind of pies, jams and pickles AND hormone-free, grass-fed meat. You can also order your Thanksgiving Turkey here too. This is a HIGHLY recommended activity for families especially for families with young kids. Please note that COVID-19 protocols are strictly followed, so there’s hand sanitizers everywhere & you are expected to wear masks within the market and barn area.
