The world's southernmost city is located on the Beagle Channel, between the Martial Range and the end of the world. It is a key access point to skiing at Cerro Castor and Glaciar Martial, wildlife adventures with penguins and orcas in the Beagle Channel, and Tierra del Fuego National Park. Of course, it’s also the port of call nearest Antarctica, and a unique destination for kayaking, sailing or having a drink in a warm hotel bar.

Live the incredible experience of walking among the magnificent and friendly penguins of Martillo Island. In addition, you can see the fabulous landscapes that surround the roads to the Haberton ranch and the island.
Inclusions: Specialized guide, Entrance to Harberton Ranch
Exclusions: Transfer from the hotel , Lunch NOT included
Be sure to book only with Piratours - ideally directly at their office in the centre of Ushuaia. We had a terrible experience with cancellation of our trip (booked here!) via Grey Line - despite paying in full for a trip on a date shown online here as available. Luckily, that was not the fault of the actual operator Piratour and they were able to fit us in when we went there in person. However, although quite expensive, it was well worth the experience and the tour is respectful of nature & the environment.

This tour of the Beagle Channel, islands teeming with wildlife, the penguin colony and Estancia Harberton is well worth the time and money although we had a bit of a glitch in our tour. We had booked a tour on a small boat with 20 passengers. We were placed on a catamaran with three decks containing several hundred people. Bait and switch? Communication with Trip Advisor was poor. We thought we were with a company called Signature Tours, when we got to the pier the morning of departure, no one had heard of them. We spent about 30 minutes determining where we needed to be. We ended up with a company called Rombu Sur. The wind was blowing the day of our tour, so the channel was rough. The larger boat was more comfortable and we enjoyed our tour, especially of the museum at Harberton. Wonderful English speaking guides. We rode a comfortable bus back to Ushuaia. All in all we had a great day after a stressful start due to poor communication by Trip Advisor. None of the emails I sent were responded to by Trip Advisor. My advice? Wait until you are in Ushuaia and book your tour directly with the tour company and cut out the middle man! Shame on Trip Advisor.

We were in Ushuaia for two days ahead of joining an Antarctic cruise and wanted to spend some time trekking in order to experience the beautiful Patagonian mountain landscapes. We explained our timings/situation/experience to Sebastian and he suggested an accelerated Torres del Rio Chico short circuit and arranged everything for us. Our guide, Ignacio, collected us from the hotel exactly on time and drove us up into the mountains where we set off on a truly stunning two-day hike. Ignacio was a legend - very experienced, hugely knowledgeable and great company - we could not have asked for a better guide! After 2 amazing (and tiring!) on the mountain, Ignacio delivered us back to the hotel in plenty of time to join our cruise. Thank you Sebastian for arranging and thank you Ignacio for a truly amazing time - we are extremely grateful. Would highly recommend to anyone passing through Ushuaia who wants to see a little more of the region but off the beaten trail

Just a heads up, you will see very little penguins, and from far away. The guide explained to us after that you can see the penguins in January, and until then they will hibernate, which is why you can't see them. No worries. On the boat there is a cameraman that takes photos and then tries to sell them (the photos are of an amateur quality). He will get aggressive in asking customers to move out of the way so he can try to take photos in the viewing positions. When reminded that the customers have already paid, and it might be a better approach if the boat circled the island so that everyone can see, he will snarl that he no longer speaks English. Give this a miss unless you are there in January
