The world's southernmost city is located on the Beagle Channel, between the Martial Range and the end of the world. It is a key access point to skiing at Cerro Castor and Glaciar Martial, wildlife adventures with penguins and orcas in the Beagle Channel, and Tierra del Fuego National Park. Of course, it’s also the port of call nearest Antarctica, and a unique destination for kayaking, sailing or having a drink in a warm hotel bar.

The Prison at the End of the World,as a correctional facility was closed in 1947. Today National Historic Monument now houses the Maritime Museum of Ushuaia, with a vast collection of models that relate the maritime history of Tierra del Fuego from the arrival of the first explorers. The Prison Museum that highlights the history of the criminal and the lives of prisoners in each of the old cells and support screens, local history and development of the city of Ushuaia is reported. The Antarctic Museum with exhibits on the expeditions of the most famous explorers like Amundsen, Scott, Shackleton, Nordenskjold. Museum of Art Marine, with the leading argentine artists marinists and Art Gallery with Temporary Exhibitions Audioguides in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French. Every day guided tours
This place is crammed with information, much of it also in English and is certainly worth spending a good couple of hours here. If you can't fit it all in on day one, get your ticket stamped and you can go back for free on the following day. Something for everyone here, which is high praise from me as I'm not a massive museum fan, but there are several aspects that may entertain those with different interests: - firstly the maritime section tells all about the great explorers setting off to Antartica from here and the likes of Darwin and Scott spending time here - then there is loads of stuff on the story of the prison and indeed prisons around the world (the museum itself is set in wings of the old prioson) - an art gallery and other exhibitions we ran out of time for Definitely worth the entry fee, well done

We were given a voucher to get a free map of Tierra del Fuego at this souvenir shop when we booked a boat trip on the Beagle Channel with Tolkeyen Patagonia. We picked up the map but also quite a few souvenirs as this place was much cheaper than others and had a great choice. It also had a garden with a copy of the Tren del Fin del Mundo and statues of prisoners doing different chores. There was also a museum but we did not have time to visit it.
