St. George's Cathedral is a Greek Catholic 18th-century cathedral with rococo yellow facade, housing an icon of the Virgin Mary. During 19th and 20th centuries, the cathedral served as the mother church of the Ukrainian Greek Catholic Church. The cathedral reflects both Western influences and the traditions of Ukrainian church construction. She's a beauty- don't miss this opportunity!

It's a bit far from central Kiev, but can be reached through a walk through Babi Yar. Babi Yar is a beautiful park with a dark history. It's about a 30min walk through the park from metro to St Cyril's. Make sure you find the correct entrance - just walk around the wall until you find it, it's there. The frescos are absolutely amazing and vividly colored. You cab even go to the choir balcony and look down. There is a particularly moving fresco up there of the transmission of the holy ghost. The cashier lady was kind and spoke English. The attendant inside did not speak English, but was very helpful and turned all these lights on to help better see the frescos.

New this historical place for more than 40 years and always though - nothing interesting. By case this summer I participated the walking tour "Mystic ancient Chernigiv" ~ 17 Euro for 3 hours. Rediscovered a lot of new information - even that there is the "Lucky stone " in the rear wall (from the park side). You can ask your dream and it will true. Strongly advice to take this tour. Just google it and you find it. This is operating church - also inside very friendly abbot and very knowledgeable. He share his knowledge easily.

Amazing cathedral in a beautiful compound in Chernihiv. Easy access to parking is a plus too. The inside of the cathedral, free to access, is easy to get around and the art and displays are amazing.

Trinity Church was built at the highest point of the intersection of Troitska and Novomestenska streets. It was completed by the Lintvarev family in 1827. At the end of the 19th century, the building could no longer accommodate all believers, so the headman Pavlo Kharitonenko suggested that the clergy build a new church at its own expense, resembling St. Isaac's Cathedral in St. Petersburg. In 1901-1914, the Trinity Cathedral was built according to the project of Sumy architect Gustav Scholz. The mosaic floor of the church was designed by Russian architect Alexei Shchusev. Famous painters Ignatius Nivinsky, Kuzma Petrov-Vodkin and Mikhail Nesterov worked on the interior, stained glass and iconostasis of the church. After 1917, the cathedral went through the difficult times. It was repeatedly closed, and during World War II the premises were damaged. During the Soviet era, a warehouse of haberdashery was located in the cathedral for almost thirty years. From 1988 to 2001 – the organ

Probably the most interesting and unusual religious building in the city. The first church was built on this site back in the 14th century, later rebuilt. In the Turkish period, the church was a mosque, a minaret was attached to it. When the Poles returned, a statue of the Virgin was added. Inside the church there are richly decorated chapels, icons, a graceful statue of the girl Laura. In the garden there is a monument to Pan Volodyevsky, the prototype of the hero of the novel by Henryk Sienkiewicz. To hear a detailed history, it is better to take a guided tour.

The cathedral was built in honor of Catherine the Great of Russia. The grounds have several beds of flowers & there are other monuments & buildings to see. The inside is very beautiful. The grave of Grigory Potemkin is also inside the cathedral. He was a consort of Catherine the Great & started the Black Sea Fleet in Kherson in 1778. This is worth a visit.
